PICS - My new kinky twists

I re-did them this weekend. And after 16 not so painful hours as I used a better type of hair this time here are the results. I so love being able to cut, colour, style, braid, twist, grow and relax my own hair.

The details of this hair type are

Brand: JAZZY
Colour: 1
Length: 24 INCHES, ALL THE LENGTH USED
Hair type: AFRO KINKY TWIST
Packs used: 3 full packs and a tiny bit from a 4th
Price: £3.99 a pack

The ends were wrapped around bendy rollers, dipped in hot water, squeezed em out and took them out the next morning.

I didn't need to tediously pull the hair out of the pack as they hair was already sectioned, this saved a HELL of a lot of time and mess, and all the twists were the same width. You'd be surprsied how much time is spent sectioning the hair from the pack.

I always used SUPER afro kinky twist but it's coaser and didn't me that shine like this hair does and it's much softer.

The rest are here http://public.fotki.com/LondonDiva/lhcf/april-2007/ (password in profile)

I got called delicious at work today by my 57 year old co-worker :lick:

:lachen: :lachen: :lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

Those twists are really nice, LD! I was thinking of getting some Senegalese twists that look kinda like that. Very cute! :)

Your kinky twists are beautiful. I wish I had the skill and patience to do my own extensions like that. Your parts are so even. Great job and you look fantastic!

  WOW! those are georgeous
I am going to spend my summer practicing doing those...it will save me money in college

You did an awesome job girl. Love em! I know your hands were tired.

Love em! Where did you get the hair from for £3.99 and for that length?

Hey Stilettos, pretty much every Black hair shop in London carries this. You can get it from ACE in peckham, Nubian Jack carry it also.

Ask for the Jazzy Brand, afro kinky twist type, £3.99-4.99 per pack, pay no more than £4.99 for it.
I got mine from the Costcutter in Thornton Heath which triples as a shop post office and black hair product shop in the back. Those Indian folk aren't joking. I tried the black owned places first but they were all out.

okay so i was in your fotki trying to figure out how to do them myself and i can't. I can't get the hair to say and blend. i told myself i didn't want to get them done professionally anymore because they used a lighter to clean up the braids and thats not cool. Plus thats money i can save so whats ur secret.

Thank you...believe it or not my hands weren't tired this time round. I watched season 3 and 4 of 24 back to back to pass the time, I barely noticed.

The first time round I too was like you. I got the braids by bresling dvd, went out and over the coarse of the week ended up buying the wrong hair each and every time, I braided they came out, wouldn't stay or nothing. Believe practice definitely makes perfect.

I found NOT looking in a mirror helped and practsing on one section of hair only until I perfected the technique.

1. Attach the hair as if you were going to braid and start braiding, on the DVD it says braid down once but that's where I fell flat they didn't keep. Now I braid down about 3-4 times so it feels secure.

2. I then take 1 of the 3 sections of the braid and make it into 1 with another one so i have to like as if I was going to twist.

3. this is the key to make it stay and keep longer, now i didn't get it on the dvd what the lady was talking about. you have to twist and twist down. I was like  basically don't think too much about it, as you twist you are turning the hair at the same time, hold it firmly whilst twisting and you will find yourself doing it naturally. you don't need to twist it a full 360 or anything, just twist each strand as you twist down.

HTH:)

Girl I didn't even use a comb, I just pinched the hair, those are all done with my fingers. Thank god for diverse African inspired styles as this makes the growing phase so much easier and you don't have to comprimise on style.
