Help me make a decision!!!! DH wants to get me something for my birthday at the end of the month. Which is a better investment for my hair?

Pibbs Kwik - I don't do roller sets now b/c I hate th dome and the time it takes to dry. I'm hoping getting a commercial dryer will get me in the rollersetting habit.

Lacefront - Great protective style but can I really use it in the upcoming summer months? Carmend, your pictures have me wanting one bad!!!! Only concern is messing around with the tape and wig cap. If it take more than 5 minutes to put it than I probably use it often.

Help!

Hands down, Pibbs. IMO, you'll have more life out of the Pibbs, where as the lace front may not last for years to come.

Yeah, what she said... Don't forget that you not only have rollersets to do, but deep conditioning treatments as well.

DITTO DITTO DITTO DITTO. Cannot emphasize this enough. Also, for the cost of a Pibbs Kwik Dry (about $200) you will not be able to get a lace front that is convincing enough, IMO. My hair is now so long that some people think that it is a weave. I can tell by the way some folks look me up and down when my hair is out. :lachen: Buy the Pibbs and in a year or two you won't need any weaves. Pibbs you can use all year round. Just try to wear that lace front in the hot summer months and see how long you will last. Also, if you hair gets jacked up in the rain, you can just rollerset and sit yourself under the Pibbs. Trying fixing a lace front wig when it gets jacked up in the rain. :ohwell:

And this is all coming from someone who airdries a lot and hates to rollerset. But Pibbs has really freed me from the salon. I can get a salon set even though I do not rollerset so well.

After I had resumed rollersetting a few months after my wedding, my husband offered me a professional hood dryer and this has been a marvelous gift. It has given me more freedom compared to the weekly visit to the salon and it also means significant savings. I have long hair and without this marvelous and reliable tool, I would need to spend most of the day under my very cumbersome rollerset. So for sure, I would choose the Kwikk.

Wow this Pibbs Kwik sounds like an excellent investment. Where can one be purchased?
Call them directly and find out where you can purchase it. I called them and was able to find it on sale in my area. I think their website is www.pibbs.com.

Girl, I went to get a wash and set recently and my Pibbs was FASTER and BETTER than the one that the salon had. I have been to some of the fanciest salons in my town and they are trying to charge me 40-50 for sticking me under the Pibbs -- and still have the nerve to have that stank attitude that they can have at fancy black salons. Hell NAW! My hair has grown longer, because I am able to use it on the lowest temperature and take time with my rollerset as opposed to the splits I would get with rough handling and extremely high bonnet driers at salons -- whether they were Dominican or fancy black -- that were using the speed-em-up assembly line technique!

Thanks for the info girl! This sounds like something that's right up my alley. I've been going to the same hairdresser for years, but now that my hair is below bra-strap I am SUPER sensitive to how it is handled. The last time I saw her a couple of weeks ago, she seemed a little rough. Perhaps that's the way she's always been and I just never noticed it or maybe I'm just too sensitive? Whatever, all I know is my hair has never looked better since I quit going to the salon so much. Thanks again! :)

I went to the website (www.pibbs.com). It didn't give any details about their products. I have never heard of this dryer before. Can some one tell me why its so great.

Thanks everyone for responding!!! I'm gonna get the Pibbs!:yay:
Welcome to a slice of heaven

P.S...you do not have to use the dryer on HOT to benefit from it's power. Mine doesn't get hot at all, but it's got incredible air-flow.
