Can someone tell me what the benefits of this hair dryer is vs. a cheap one from Walmart or the BSS. I would like to do roller sets when I reach my desired length, so I am doing a little research. I ran a LHCF search, read the Rollerset Naturals Challenge thread , but I can not pinpoint, what ithe dryer's benefits are....

Thanks in advance.

I am transitioning with a little relaxer left on my ends, but I would to hear from 4a naturals that rollerset especially

I use the black magnetic rollers and i dry quick like 40 minutes...I don't have one my cousin does and i love it.

I went on imperialsales.com and they have it for $259

They provide a even distribution of heat with adjustable settings that prevent those "hot spots" that you normally find in regular table top dryers. I don't own a Pibbs, but it's pretty much identical to (w/out the excessive price tag). It dries my thick natural rollersets in about 45-50 minutes @ 60-65 degrees (depending on temp-the higher the temp, the quicker it dries). My hair is about an inch or so above BSL (My hair type is 3b/3c/4a predominately) :yep:

Thanks!!! The rollerset in your siggy looks great!!! Do you credit the dryer for the outcome of your rollerset or the products you use?

Hmm...I think if you let the set dry completely, it'll turn out fine. For me, I'm impatient when it comes to sitting 2.5 hours under a tabletop, so this dryer is a godsend. I attribute a good rollerset to the application of the rollers (making sure all of the hair is placed on the roller w/ minimal bunching) and the products (I consistently use Cantu leave-in, Chi Silk infusion, and UltraSheen Super Setting lotion diluted w/ water)

My hair is around armpit length. I used to dry my hair with the Ion (space helmet looking) dryer and only got my Pibbs 514 about six weeks ago. With the Ion, I would have to sit under the dryer manually alternating between high and low for comfort, mostly high) for over two hours and still my hair would not be completely dry. I was never ever happy with my rollerset results. With the Pibbs, I sit for 1 hour and 20 minutes MAX at 50 degrees and my hair is bone dry all over. Also the texture of it is more silky since it is dried gently and evenly. My Pibbs has given me dream hair! I can't say enough about it. I am a cheapskate and I say it is worth every penny.

Even distribution of air flow
Faster drying time
You can roll it anywhere (I'm at the computer right now)
Adjustable heights
Timer
Excellent for getting a crisp set (leading to better shine)
Beautiful to look at :lachen:

Should I continue??????

Thanks for your responses ladies!

Hey yall, this is a good topic.

I need to know if this is a good dryer that would fit the black and grey rollers? If not what dryer will? Because before I pay hundreds of dollars on a dryer, I want to make sure it can fit black and grey rollers?

For me, the time I save is invaluable. I used my Pibbs for the second time Wednesday and I am still in awe. Usually, I have to plan my evening or day just right to accomodate roller setting. This week I was able to go from wash to dry all within roughly two hours.

And obvious, the mobility factor is huge.
