Okay Ladies yesterday my mom permerd my hair with phyto, I had went 6 months without a relaxer so my stuff was super thick and unmangable (4b). my mom has been doing my perms for a while but this was the first time for my first STRECTH & the first for the relaxer. Well when she wrapping my hair after we finsh perming she notice my hair wasnt bone-straight it was still poofy but- we didnt worry until we took the wrap down we notice a issue- the upper middle section of my hair was not permed:eek: well the perm didnt sit long enough and didnt work through, the rest of my hair is soft with body no shine though. But that section wont even lay right with the rest of the wrap she even blow-dried it and its still a puff ball this morning. But she told me she wouldnt reperm it untill I ask yall, I was so dispointed last night that I didnt ask yall plus it was midnight. But THE GOOD NEWS IS I MANTAIN SOME LENGTH FROM THIS STRECTH. oh & my mom said next time she perms my hair it will be perfect cuz it wont be as thick as it was which will in march or april. But here are my questions:

Should I perm this area? I have this area in a pony tail now its so rough u can still see the new growth

Should I just flat iron? I dont own one of these so I would have to buy one so which one is a good one and where is it located (store)

What product do I use to get shine?

Thanks ladies in advance (over all I like phyto & Im happy with my wrap (this is a 1st)& my length- its just the upper middle section thats a hott mess lol- Im laughing but Im really crying inside )-:

hey there, temp101...

firstly, what strength of phytorelaxer did your mom use on your hair????

secondly, how long did she allow the relaxer to stay in your hair before rinsing it out??????

Index 2, its was 50 minutes with relaxing and smoothing time cuz I kept complaining its on too long even though it didnt burn but I didnt want my hair to fall out. It never takes my mom this long but I had so much newgrowth and it was hard for her to get the comb through:(

I've succesfully done a corrective relaxer with phyto 2. It wasn't damaging at all. However I did the corrective relaxer between relaxers so I wouldn't have to worry about relaxing new growth and the parts that had been underprocessed. I waited about a month.

As for shine phyto usually provides plenty but I also use a mixture of glycerine and water (3 parts water to one part glycerine) and that gives great shine also.

Are u saying I should relax the underprocessed part but just wait a month in doing so?

I always feel strange giving people such advice about relaxers when I'm such a newbie but it worked fine for me so if you're considering it at least there has been one guinea pig who had success (me). If you're not relaxing the full head there really shouldn't be any need to wait a month. I just waited a month because it's something I didn't want to initially do but eventually convinced myself to do because the tangling got out of hand. HTH

I've never used phyto before but i thought you were only supposed to leave perms on for no more than 20-25 min? You may have overprocessed your hair if you went way over like that? My hair used to be overprocessed and is now growing out but that def will make it rough.

thanks ladies for the advice u are pose to only go 20-25 but as u can see that wasnt long enough cuz i got a upper middle section that is still rough with new growth but im not complaining anymore i flat iron and its starting to blend in with the rest -next time i wont have this much new growth and my hair will be just fine:)

I agree, 50 min. was entirely too long to still end up with underprocessed hair. I tried to use a No-Lye relaxer my last relaxer and went 30 min. and still was underprocessed and on top of it my newly relaxed hair was sooooo dry  , I was pissed off, and did do a corrective relaxer w/my normal Lye relaxer and in 5 min. it was straight and shiney again. BTW I was so pissed off I did the corrective relaxer that following morning when I woke up, and haven't had any problems. But since you went almost triple the relaxing time I would wait a few weeks and try using a Lye relaxer if you want straight and shiney hair. Sometimes the things that seem/sound so good for everyone else may not be good for you. HTH's
