Phyto: Still Loving It? Still Hating it?

still a phyto II user. along with everythig else in the arsenal it helped to get my hair from above ear lenght to like it is in my avatar and thats without the help of a salon!

I don't have the dry hair and breakage issues I used to have when I used AtOne (which was the one that my scalp could stand) and with phyto I don't get burned ever...

So I'll pony up the 60 bucks every few months...can't beat that.

I've used Affirm for years, but since my stylist retired, I decided to take the Phyto plunge with a new stylist. I ordered Index II, and it's sitting in a shopping bag in my hall......... waiting for me to make an appointment with a new stylist!

I'm five months post an can't wait to try with all these great reviews.

Sounds interesting.

Could someone please explain the excitement about the Phyto?

Is this a chemical?
Is it safer for the hair than a typical relaxer?

Sorry, but I just don't know about it. :look:

Thanx

I've been using Phytospecific relaxer for many years, many, many years, and, in the past, when I was broke and needed to relax, I'd buy something cheaper at Sallys - always to my detriment. For the last several years, it's all phyto all the time. I use the shampoos, conditioners, treatments, leave in - as I said: all phyto all of the time with no plans to switch to anything else.

Before coming here, the one problem I used to have with phyto relaxer was it took so long and multiple washes to get to white suds. Aracdian hipped me to using an acv rinse - that's the ticket. Even bone straight, my hair is strong with lots of body, and there is absolutely no reversion unlike other relaxers I'd used in the past.

I buy my phyto - all of it - at Polly and Company (have to put in a good word for her). Great service, fast shipping, good prices (comparatively) and she sells the large salon sizes of the conditioners and leave in.

I will always use phyto, and I'll always buy from Polly and Company.

I'm no longer using it. It was just too expensive. I don't do my own relaxer so when go to the Salon, my stylist still charge me full price. That's way too much

This is my only complaint about Phyto. I have been using it for years I LOVE the results I get every time. I have switched back and forth between Index I and II and have settled on Index II. My hairdresser raves about my hair every time I go to her (I do my own relaxers). However - I dread the wash out process, lol.

Can you give a little more detail about how you acv rinse during the process?

I love Phyto. My stylist uses the Index 1 on all her clients, no matter the texture. This is the first relaxer that does not burn. My scalp is sensitive and there was a time when I would get burned every single time I relaxed. I've been using Phyto for a little over a year and I'm so happy. It allow my hair to get straight but maintain body. Also, my stylist can apply it to my hair without basing and it still does not burn!

Still happy. Phyto was the 1st relaxer I used after years of being natural and I've never used anything else since and don't plan too. I'm mad it's $60, but since I only touch up twice a year it's not an issue.

I was sniffing around at Alter Ego's drawers...but I ain't cheat...:look:
me and Phyto still hanging for 4+ years now...

I can't believe the price of Phyto here; I can get it for £28 which equates to $42. It's almost unheard of to find any product over here that is cheaper than in the US! Very bizarre!

I'm still in Love! Sometimes I get suspicious, and wonder can I get the same quality for less (especially when folks sing the praises of ORS relaxer), but then I realize, why chance it? I've been doing well with Phyto for about 2 yrs now, so ima stick with it! :)

I am still loving it,just relaxed my hair with Index 2 today.
I dont think I will stray anytime soon.

To me it seems as if the Phyto relaxer is a protein based relaxer. My question to you phyto ladies do you do a mid-protein treatment w/ this relaxer?? If so, no protein overload?? Which one? Duo-tex? Reason for asking is because I have fine hair and just dont want it to get any finer...:perplexed

Thanx.

I just relaxed last nite with Phyto after almost 2 years of 'others' -

I gotta tell you- Phyto was fantastic!

My hair is so smooth and because it didn't burn, I was able to leave it in so it could make may hair straight.

I love this stuff, but it is expensive.

Anyway, I have a few boxes of it, so I can relax w/o $$ worry right now.

My hair does not like alot of proteins,

so no, I don't do extra besides my

homemade leave-in w/ SAA,

and a moisturizing cream infused with EVOO.
