I stop perming my hair for about 5 months. My hair was brown with some blonde highlights, so, I have alot of new growth. I used SSLD and Black N Sassy cream set, and for my edges I used Ice pomade, my hair hasn't been refreshed, I put the ice pomade in earlier this morning, it's not all that great but, it's a start. I'm trying out this new web cam I have.

Hi, you've got a lot of new growth! what are your hair goals? are you transitioning to natural?

Laela,

That's my goal transitioning to natural, the last chemical I tried was naturalaxer, and it really had my hair a mess, after that I was like no more. My goals right now to achieve more length and have a healthy head of hair.

Well, welcome to the club! /images/graemlins/dance7.gif /images/graemlins/band2.gif

You're 5 months ahead of me and in good shape w/ all that new growth. Do you plan on braiding? or just chopping it off to get a twa?

You've got a lot of new growth...are you gonna chop soon...or keep transitioning? I see you already have one of my favorite natural styles down... /images/graemlins/wink.gif

sorry to hear about yo last experience wit a relaxer /images/graemlins/smile.gif how do u intend to transition, cut bits at a time or jus go for the big chop?

Well I'm not sure, If I should just cut bits and pieces off or just cut off the all the relaxer part. If I do cut off bits and pieces where should I cut. I've seen alot of natural women hair, and I like the way it looks. I mean can you grow out your relaxer, someone told me once you relax your hair, you can never grow out of it, it has to be cut. What are some of you guys suggestions?

yes thats true u cant get rid of the relaxer any other way, u can only make it look like its natural this is because once hair is relaxed its permanant (that is to the hair thats been relaxed) wen u grow out relaxer u get rid of the relaxed bits and well its up to u if u want to cut an inch /month till all of it is gone or to jus get rid of all the relaxed bits at once but u'd have to be pretty brave to do this /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Either brave or /images/graemlins/nuts.gif I made that error of chopping when I had enough growht. WRONG! my mom made me /images/graemlins/mad.gif when she said I looked like Shirly from "What's Happening".. won't happen next time... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I almost tried a naturalaxer but then I got scared and sent it back, what exactly happened when you used it? Did it break off or did the product not do what it said it would do?

Kathryn,

It made my hair extremely dry, and my hair started breaking, I tried to keep my hair moist but it keep drying, so after that happened, I was like no more chemicals, but, I wanted to find ways of taking care & styling hair without it. A few months prior to me using naturalaxer, I had touched up my hair with optimum and I was wearing my hair in weave ponytails, then I started noticing my side of my hair was breaking. So I was scared to put another perm in my head, but, I was researching on the internet and alot of people recommended naturalxer, it took me a minute to decide to purchase it, and I did and it was another mistake, that's was my experience, if you do decide to purchase it, I hope it works out, because it didn't for me.

Do what is right for you. I transitioned(cause I have a big apple head(remember Gina from 'Martin Lawrence's show??). I waited until I got to chin length. It's all on how your hair is doing and what you want. Play it by ear...

Your hair looks like it is growing along. Thick and healthy. Like the color. Do you plan on coloring it after going natural?

Good for you. Wishing you the best of luck. Go to Nappturality.com they have a transitioners forum. Between our natural ladies and theirs you should find lots of wonderful ways in which to transition.

Sweetcocoa, you are too funny!!

/images/graemlins/laugh.gif that was very harsh of her to say summin like that /images/graemlins/laugh.gif seriuosly tho, i found cuttin it at once to be better for me coz i am sooooo undecided and i was thinkin of pulling the relaxer thru and then decided agenst it coz my over=processed hair wudnt benefit from all this, so i decided to end the madness and jus cut it
