Phony pony problem

I can't seem to find the right colour to match my hair, it's always a little darker or a little lighter. The phony I bought is number 2 colour I asked for dark brown and that's what they gave me, I thought it looked a little dark but now I've tried it on and it's at least 2 shades darker, my hair is dark brown, I think but it's brown for sure but it looks like the pulled back part is laighter and the phony ends are noticably darker. I've looked at the next shade lighter and that's a 4 and it's slighty lighter than my hair---aggghhh, I really don't want to dye my hair just to match some phonys.
Any shades from other sources? Thanks in advance

I have this exact problem. In fact I have at least 3 phonies I will be offering for sale on this site (eventually, when I get around to it  ) because of this. I'm interested in a "lighter" shade of dark brown too!

Why not dye the pony to your color instead or put a rinse in your hair to match the pony.

When I wore a phony pony I had the same problem. I bought it, dyed it with a permanent and put a dryer to it for the color to take. It worked perfectly! ;)

i would do what lorraine suggested i have found though that the colors aren't always that consistent, for example i've bought 2 phony ponies both #4 but they are slightly different shades

Thanks ladies, I'm going to try dyeing the ponys, since permanent dye for my hair is not an option.
