Personal Milestone Measurements Check In! (Yeah, you too!)

I was inspired by Mz.MoMo5235, who measured her hair because she was bored.

I thought it would be helpful to each of us individually to know where our personal milestone lengths are and where we are in relation. I think this is particularly useful when we get around the tricky "BSL" milestone.

So, measuring, be sure to note from the top of your head (crown) or from hairline, check in with the following measurements (or whichever are most relevant for you personally):

Crown. I put my hand flat across the top of my head and clipped the tape measure between my fingers. (does that make sense?)

I measured a while back from my hairline

(start length): sl= 16 1/2
apl= 20 1/2
bsl= 24 1/2
mbl= 26 1/2
(ultimate goal): wl= 28 1/2

My current length is about 22"

i'll check in when i wash my hair this weekend....i did happen to find a tape measurer the other day and waistlength for me is 27 amd hip length is 32...but i will recheck where i am right now this weekend.

hl= 32 (It's not on the chart, but I measured) (~ February 2013)

as you well know, i won't have an accurate measurment until my perm in may.
BUT earlier this year, i had taken some measurments to see where i'm headed.

apl: 20"

bsl: 23"

mbl: 26"

wl: 29"-30"

i was roughly about 16"-17" when i took those measurments (given all my layers).

i'm 5 feet 10 and a half.

last night i just measured from my shoulder (where i started at SL) to my armpit and it is a surprise to say it is 7 INCHES IN DISTANCE!

this NOW shows me that to get from where i was when i started to where i want to be at my first "hair party" goal achieved, it has taken 7 INCHES OF NEW GROWTH!

all i can say is thank God BSL is not as many inches from APL as APL was from SL!

so THIS is why everyone is always saying APL is the hardest to hit...now i "get it"!

ooh this is fun! i'm slightly obsessed with measuring my hair. ... so, measuring from the top/crown:


el= 9 in.
nl= 12 in.
sl= 15 in.
apl= 20 in.
bsl= 22 in.
mbl= 24 in.
wl= 27 in.
hl= 31 in.
tbl= 35 in.

Current length= layered 16 in (top) to 12 in (nape), & I'm 5'10"

^^^eta: and i totally agree with the above. the biggest distance in my measurements was 5 in. from sl to apl, so that does explain why it seems to take so long to get to apl, lol ... but my hair seems to grow slow regardless, but i'm learning to be more patient, & just allow it to do it's thing

Current length= Not sure! I am transitioning so I would have to straighten in order to find out and I don't plan on it until August when I have to trim, so I'll update then! But I am somewhere in between SL and APL - I am thinking about 13". I will measure for sure in August.
Btw, I'm only 4'10" with a short torso so if my numbers seem weird, it might be because of that!

My goal is to hit 27 inches. Practically speaking I don't see myself going much farther than that.

I have a short torso, so it makes WL look pretty close. Putting it at 8 inches away makes it seem much more attainable. Even if I trim along the way,I should hit it in 1.5- 2 years. Thats not long at all!

I am currently NL. It doesn't seem like much sometimes but considering I am coming from a low 2'' short cut last year, it's quite a bit. WL seems alot closer to me now
