I used this on Sunday. I mixed in about a teaspoon of Olive Oil and took it to my stylist. I am very pleased with the results. My roots still have a little wave to them (but are smooth), my hair did not lose the same degree of bulk as it did last time - it still has a lot of body. It even seems a little thicker. I didn't burn at all - which is saying a lot for me lately. I did base my scalp the night before AND the morning of tho (thanks Bevvie!

). I was really suprised too because I washed and rollerset my hair the day before, realized that I was DESPERATE need of a relaxer, and just decided to chance it.

It worked out really well. I am VERY happy with the results.

Interesting, I think PCJ Lye is stronger on my hair than the Affirm Fiberguard, so I am surprised (but happy) that this worked better for you. I've rollerset the night before as well without any ill effects.

Yeah I'm suprised too CBG. I'm glad you recommended the Fiberguard

because I wanted to try it, but I do think the PCJ is going to work out much better.

Do you really rollerset the night before? That is so intersting. Girl, I was saying "Hail Marys" and I'm not even Catholic.

I just KNEW my scalp would be on FIRE.

I don't make it a habit to rollerset the night before (cause I am lazy), but I've done either at salons or myself and just wake up the next morning with that I know I need a perm right now feeling. So I go get it done, however I must say that I almost never burn a stylist has to be extra careless for me to burn.

Megon - I saw that you've been gearing up to try it...one of the reasons I posted.

Bear in mind that I used the one in the BOX though - formula 1, not 2. I never knew that there was a Lye relaxer that came in a box, but indeed, PCJ has one in a box, with Nutrient Sheen. That's the one I used. I didn't use the Nutrient Sheen tho - too scared not to neautralize right away. I have enough problems with my hair right now!

tracy and cbg,
do you all usually use mild relaxers?
Tracy, how does this compare to motions miid?
thanks and im glad it went well Tracy! Grow on Girl!

Cara - I always use Mild - whatever the brand. Motions Mild began to burn me more and more, the more I used it. It also - I don't know - something was up with it. I started getting my hair REALLY straight. One of the reasons I swtiched was because Motions (not the oil - the other one) thinned my hair out considerably when I used it for a few touch ups a few years ago. I havee experienced some thinning lately (some of which I'm sure was related to my post August coloring madness) and I wanted to eliminate anything that I thought could at ALL be adding to the problem. I'm not SURE Motions thinned my hair, but I wanted to get rid of it - just in case.

And thank you for your encouragement mi amiga...

P.S. - I got my hair relaxed for $25 on Sunday. With the cost of the PCJ that's a toal cost of $30. Just so you know....

Thanks for thinking of me over here in my

condition. I'm still waiting on the showerhead and the neck mirror to arrive, then I'm ready to roll.

I pay $35 for a wash and rollerset here in Boston, and you were charged $25 for a touchup? That alone deserves its own thread on the salon recommendations board. Tracy, you should share you stylist info with us so that other ladies in your area can cash in.
