Paul Mitchell commercial

Did anyone see the Paul Mitchell commercial that talked about their products being copied?? He said that if you find his product in a grocery or drug store, that it's fake. And that his products are only guaranteed in a salon. What do you think of that?? How could these stores have access to the products, and why would they buy fake ones?? I mean Target and Walgreen's carries just about every professional product you can think of.

I read that on the back of one of his shampoo bottles, too. It clearly stated that. But thats crazy, though. I see Paul Mitchell stuff everywhere. Ive even seen them in Alberstons. Hmm...I dont know what to think of that.

On a British Forum i used to post on years ago, a woman on it had bought Paul Mitchell from a BSS she said it was obviously fake- runny, did nothing ( she had used the real one before) so if i were to use PM i prob would go to a salon or a reputable site online.

I didn't see it but my mom did and she told me about it. On the back of a lot of those products it says that it can only be guranteed if purchased in a salon.

JOICO also puts this on the back of all their products: "GUARANTEED WHEN PURCHASED FROM A PROFESSIONAL STYLIST ONLY."

I kinda think it's just a tactic to make you pay more for the product, or to "maintain the image" of the product. I've bought PM at salons, and I've also purchased some from Target or drugstores. I truly believe the products you get from Target, Drugstore.com, etc are authentic. I don't trust the asians or flea markets though. JMO

Yeah, I've seen that statement on bottles a long time ago, but I didn't think they were referring to reputable stores like Target and Walgreen's. And see my thing is, if Target and Walgreens can get a "knock off," who's to say some salons aren't too????

Exactly. I was thinking the exact same thing.:)

ITA with this theory.

I agree. Plus, can't they be sued for using fake products. I know Louis Vuitton sued Target a few months ago because somebody bought a bag there that LV said was fake.

I saw that commericial this morning and was like  Besides if his products are so exclusive, why doesn't he have some kind of patent on them. I think he originally sold to these retailers and now is loosing money to them.

The stuff at Target and BBS maybe Paul Mitchell, but they are mostly old products, fake and/or different formulas.

This is very true. Salon distributors can't sell old products so they have to get rid of it.
