1) How do you measure your hair. I have a few super curls in my head (meaning rain, sleet or shine they stay curly)

2) what have you or can you use to obtain quicker growth.. Im three months post now, and I feel like a chia pet with straight strands on the end. (MN, EXTRA vitamins, better diet...anything)

3) I tried to sew in some hair a wek ago...two days later, I had to take it down.. My hair has become way too stubborn to stay in braids for long periods of time, even with other products in my hair..

Me and my hair ARE NOT best friends right now...HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

:wallbash: :whyme::nuts::hammer::arguing::eek2: <---this is how I feel (all of them)

1) How do you measure your hair. I have a few super curls in my head (meaning rain, sleet or shine they stay curly) I have a renegade patch of corkscrews in the middle of my head, no matter what I do, they will not conform to any straight styles (blowdryer and flat iron are no match...though I haven't tried my straightening comb yet), lucky for me they are covered up by the rest of my hair. I do not measure my hair. I can clearly see the natural vs. relaxed hair...don't really care how it translates into inches.

2) what have you or can you use to obtain quicker growth.. Im three months post now, and I feel like a chia pet with straight strands on the end. (MN, EXTRA vitamins, better diet...anything) I do MTG when I remember, MN when I feel like it, but overall I'm not too concerned with speeding up the growth...or I'd probably be more consistant. It'll come, I'm moreso focusing on keeping the growth that I get.

3) I tried to sew in some hair a wek ago...two days later, I had to take it down.. My hair has become way too stubborn to stay in braids for long periods of time, even with other products in my hair.. I haven't done any extensions/weaves during my transition, and I don't plan on doing any, but we'll see. If I did go that route, it would have to be braids. Although, I have worn my own hair in cornrows.

i didn't measure my ng while transitioning, just my entire length. After i chopped, i used my rattail comb as a measuring stick - one end of the comb touching scalp, pull the hair (gently to stretch it out) and note where the hair falls on the comb.

gonna have to think of something else since it's beyond the comb now :ohwell:

nothing really. i guess you could try any of the things (within reason of course) you see on the boards but like all things, ymmv. i'd say sticking to basics is the best advice, moisturize, protein when/if needed, be very careful when using any heat, don't rip through knots and kinks and always give your ends extra TLC.

i also found that learning to do my own styles and working/experimenting with my hair during transition fully prepared me for life after the BC. although it was still a shocking experience to have much shorter hair, i already knew what to do with it once i was 100% natural which was very comforting to say the least

I'm sorry i can't help with these things. i've not used extensions in my hair for about 20 years (peaches and herb braids), have never touched weave, phony pony's or wigs so i don't have any advice there. hopefully someone can help with this.

i've always been more comfy using my own hair even during transition.

Gee whiz girl, i'm so sorry you're feeling frustrated - transitioning can be frustrating sometimes. these things will pass, trust me.

i have to ask, since you're asking about measuring your hair, were you thinking about chopping earlier than you originally intended? do you have a certain goal in mind: you want x inches of hair to work with, etc.?

i'm asking because if you really don't mind shorter length, than go on and get rid of it if transitioning is becoming more trouble than it's worth........

Hang in there!!

well now i feel like an arse - for some reason i thought you were transitioning and you're not :ohwell:

sorry about that. i'll leave the post here anyways - maybe it'll help you or someone else.
