Paint in the hair? Help please

Hey ladies, I have a friend who was remodeling her house. Well she and her husband were painting one of the rooms and her husband was on a ladder painting the upperlevel of the room near the roof. Well, they had the windows open and several bees swarmed into the room where they were painting. In an effort to keep from getting stung, they both were swatting at the bees and one of them managed to get into my friend's hair which she was able to get out. But in the process, she managed to knock over the ladder which had paint sitting on it and it fell on her. Most of the paint is concentrated throughout the top and back of her head.

My question is this:

Is there any way to save her hair from this disaster?

IMO, I just don't know how anyone would be able to get paint out of their hair without cutting. Her hair is a lil bit past SL. So if you have any other suggestions, please let me know. TIA!

just wash it out immediately and deep condition...if shes still sitting down with the paint in her head....i dont know...

It depends on the type of the paint. If it's water based, you should be able to wash it out. I would definitely deep condition afterwards though.

She's come to me tonight to see what I could suggest for her. I told her that I have never had a situation where something like this happened. And that it was beyond my expertise but that I would inquire about it for her though. She did say she shampoo'd and used some conditioner to detangle but it didn't change a thing.

And she's been to the salon and they actually told her they could get it out with some paint thinner and acetone!!!! She said she jumped out of the salon chair at the mention of acetone, because she stated that acetone was only for the nails. I told her acetone has more uses than just for the nails, but I too, have NEVER in my life heard of having EITHER of those options being put anywhere NEAR a person's head STILL!

Had this happened to me, I would have just cut the damage out, because I honestly don't know how paint can be SAFELY removed from the hair without furthering the damage.

But never know who this can happen to, but I'll sure like to know how this can be remedied (if it's even remotely possible)if such an occurrence should happen in the near future.

Yes she's still got the paint in her hair. But I don't think she did a deep condition though. She did state she put conditioner on to detangle with. But I highly doubt that was a deep condition though. Thanks!

I didn't think to ask about it being water-based. But even though she's washed it, and it's still there, wouldn't that be safe to say that it's actually NOT water-based then? I know nothing about paints, which is why I am so unsure of any of this stuff. I'll give her a call shortly and ask about the paint and let you know. Thanks!

Acetone!?!?!?!?!?!?! what the?!?!....oh gosh. I think shes going to need to wash that out and do a series of deep conditioning. Like intense intense intense, sleeping with it in her hair, with heat, like....intense.

Thanks Sui Topi! I just gave her these suggestions. It's all I can do because I honestly do not know. And yes Acetone....I would think that'd be a sure fire way to lose your hair and everything. She's not hair savvy or anything like that, but she knows enough to know that that stuff was a definite

Ok she doesn't know if it's water-based. I told her to look at the can. She stated she can't look at the can at the moment because she and her hubby are at his mother's house for the night. She stated when she goes back over there tomorrow, she'll write it down and let me know what it says. And then I can give more details on this if it's water-based or not.

Well, if nothing else is working, maybe she should try the acetone. erplexed I wear lace wigs and there are some adhesives that require acetone to remove them....now, I have never used it, but if she uses a minimal amount on the paint spot themselves, then maybe it won't be so bad. Or maybe she could try goo gone - another known adhesive remover or 99% alcohol???? All these are lace wig adhesive removers. Again, I suggest these in the event that there are no other, less harsher remedies!!! I have used the goo gone and alcohol - well 91% alcohol anyway. Never acetone, but if the only other option is for her to cut her hair then I say try these before cutting and hope for the best.

Thanks aLilBirdie, I'll relay this info to her ASAP. She's definitely trying not to have her hair cut, because she states she can't see herself having super short hair.

i would try rubbing alcohol then wash and do a few deep conditioning treatments afterwards.
