If possible can you give some instructions as to how you apply your tracks?

Do you split them?, etc.

Re: :::Paging Modelchick_717:::

Hey chicas!

Nope--I don't split the tracks. I just sew them in, row-by-row starting at the nape until I get to the very top....

Re: :::Paging Modelchick_717:::

no other directions, this seems to easy, How do you sew it in, do use the needle stylist use, the curved one, and do u use regular thread?

Are the plaits goin from side to side? Are they skinny?

I wanna try this this summer to go my back out more, and faster!.

Anyone feel free to answer!

Ok my friends know me as the weave queen. I wear 2 kinds of weaves the quick-weave and the sew in. I choose to split the tracks. I never use more than a bag and a half of hair.
Quick weave
1. Pull hair into a low bun making sure you have left out hair in the front to cover the tracks.
2. starting at the back pin (yes hair pins)the track from left to right & move up when you reach the sides. There should be at least 6 pins on each track. The pins should form and X and should be placed on the left right and in the center of the track.
3. Continue until you reach the front of your head then cover the track with the hair left out around the hairline.
This method requires 20 min,the hair, a ponytail holder, gel, hair spray (optional) and hair pins I prefer the U shaped ones not the ones with one straight side.
**This method does work and you will not be walking around with tracks hanging out for the world to see if done correctly. My friend a dancer showed me this method and when she is comming round the pole she has no worries**

Traditional Sew in weave
Hair, curved needle, HAIR WEAVING thread that matches the hair, brush and or comb, hairpins
1. Depending on the style leave out hair in the front or top (or dont leave any out)cornrow the hair straight back or I start in the front and make I cornrow starting at the left moving to the right z pattern.
2. Pin one end of the track to your cornrow. Use this as an extra set of hands.Remove the pins after the track is sewn in. Make a knot in the thread and pull it through the underside of the track. Sometimes I use a slip knot to sew in the track other times I just circle around the cornrow. Either way I go left to right moving up then right to left.
4. When I get to the top I make a knot and clip it close to the knot and cover it with the hair I left out.
This method takes 2-3 hours including the cornrows and sewing in the tracks.
Take a look in my album. Hope this is enough detail.
NEVER EVER EVER USE GLUE YOU WILL SNATCH YOURSELF BALD!!!

Okay to elaborate...

I use two packs of hair, and I cornrow my hair going straight back--it eliminates bulk at the top of the head. I use a curved needle (J-shaped) and thread that I buy from the beauty supply as well. My cornrows are semi-skinny. I have thick hair, plus it's texturized as opposed to being permed straight, so I have to make sure my cornrows are thin, or you can feel them underneath the weave. If you have straight relaxed hair, or if your hair isn't that thick, you don't really have to make the cornrows super thin.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Great instructions msportugal!!

Msportutgal, I love that long curlt weave and the wig you were wearing. This is the look I want for my beach vacation this year

I say if you are going to get a wig/weave get human hair. That wig was $40 & is 2 years old, all I have to do is wash detangle (usually at the nape only**tip hairspraying the nape of any wig will usually keep it from bunching up/tangling**)and go. Sometimes I add some suave mousse & oil sheen.

Thanks Modelchick_717

Can someone tell me how do you do the closure so that the tracks do not show if you are doing a weave with all your hair cornrowed? I do my own weaves but have not yet figured out how to do them without leaving hair out around th edges. I would lkie to do a full weave and conrow all my hair so that all of my hair is protected.

Can someone help me with that?

I wish I could, but I've never used it. I've seen them show step-by-step instructions in hair magazines though. Maybe search the net. I'm sure there's a vendor or someone that sells the closure pieces online that would probably have instructions...

Re: :::Paging Modelchick_717::: OR Track Wearers::

Do you braid from one ear lobe to the next or from hair line to nape. This is the only part i am unclear on.

Re: :::Paging Modelchick_717::: OR Track Wearers::

With my mother's weave, the cornrows are done straight down. This is the easiest method since her hair is pretty short and because you can just sew the weft straight across the vertical cornrows. But it can be a bit trickier when shampooing.

With my hair, I cornrow back and forth horizontally in the back. When I get to the front, it's basically the same thing, although I get lazier and the cornrows are always much bigger up there. I may start cornrowing from the front next time I do one.

Re: :::Paging Modelchick_717::: OR Track Wearers::

And you sew the ends of the braid down right? I ahve done this for others countless times just never for myself and never a straight weave.

Re: :::Paging Modelchick_717::: OR Track Wearers::

For my mom's?

With her hair, it is short so the cornrows end above her neck and the remainder plaits never show. Plus, the weave hair covers what little plaits that are visible.

With mine, I do a continuous cornrow, from left to right. Once I hit the next row (this is the hardest part), I continue on to make a row but continuing with the hair from the last cornrowing. Kinda like a Z or S motion. In the end, there is only a plait left at the top and I just sew that down.

Thanks Karonica! I will let you knwo how i come out!

Re: :::Paging Modelchick_717::: OR Track Wearers::

Thanks MS. P. It's a favorite now. Thanks a lot.

Re: :::Paging Modelchick_717::: OR Track Wearers::

If anyone has anymore advice for a first time sew in, let me know. I want to try this as a protective style, but still able to wear a down style.

The bun plus the color I had in my hair broke my hair.

Re: :::Paging Modelchick_717::: OR Track Wearers::

i think the wonder weave was french refined wave or italian water wave I have since found another wavy hair that i like better because it tangles less and you can reuse the hair dont know the name though

Re: :::Paging Modelchick_717::: OR Track Wearers::

Im not sure if your looking for different ways...but I say braiding vertically is the easiest and best way...make sure your braids are very tiny...to eliminate bulk and to make it look more natural....

now what i do is braid and if i want a part wherever I want it at I braid in a "U" and than continue vertically...the braids by your part make them xtra little so its easy for them to be covered by the track...

next thing i do is with the ends of the braids i braid them into a horizontal cornrow at the nape of my neck....

after that I reinforce my braids with the loop stitch technique so they dont come loose too quickly...especially the braid at the nape...

Than i start to sew in the tracks...I use loop stitch technique its nothing fancy easy to do. just put your needle through the weft at the end and than underneath your cornrow...and put the needle through the loop of the thread and pull the needle thru...it will help the tracks stay in longer...dont put the needle through the wefts just the first stitch and last stitch..just go over and under the rest of the weft you dont want shedding...knot it at the end

now start from the bottom up with sewing in the tracks...dont put them too close together but dont put them too far apart or you will have seethru hair...i like my hair really full and thick so i use about 2 bags maybe 2 1/2 depending on length...you get more hair when you get 14 inch hair rather than 26 inch since it goes by weight...

now when you get up by the part the "u" shape braids use the reverse methods of sewing the tracks in...sew them in the opposite way ie...lay the track the opposite direction of the braid like this : braid---> ||<----track sew them together and than flip the hair over the braid and this will help with blending and concealing the braid...do that on all three sides of the "u" shaped braid...leave as little hair out as possible

now i would split the wefts so it looks more natural and not like dianaross hair u can still make it look full but without the bulk! with remi hair indian or european you do not have to split the tracks...and if you use remi hair get a few hand tied wefts for the front where you will be blending your hair with the weave....

thats pretty much it...and remember you can do whatever you do to your hair to 100% remi hair weave and more...

need any help holla i have pics in my fotki of my weaves..i probably chnage my style every three weeks...lool
