Can someone please tell me what the hype around these products is?
I know there is a thread, and it is more than 1000 posts ( I have read a lot of it actually).
Please enlighten me. What do these products do? How are they used? Where do you buy them?

Yeah, I have read the initial thread started by Sareca. I know its more than a hype. I still have questions though, thats why I asked in this thread. It seems to be a very interesting product from the look of things. I just need some more answers... thats all.

The first page of the challenge thread should answer most if not all of your questions.There are several suggestions for online vendors, and a run down of which products are being used. Megatek is a equine (horsey) product for growing/rebuilding hair. Ovation is the human equivalent of MegaTek. Different people are using them different ways but the point is to apply either product to the scalp and or hair 2-7X a week. You can rinse it like a protein con or use it as a leave in. B/C it is protein based - alot of ladies are finding it helpful to mix OVT or MegaTek in an application bottle with a nourishing oil liek castor or jojoba to combat any possible dryness.

I have used Mega TEK before and had no remarkable improvement. Something about Eqyss products does not seem to that great for my hair. My hair is fine 4a and currently texturized. It is hard for me to really tell by pictures posted in the thread if there has been true progress. I try to wait out these bandwagons because more objective opinions start coming out after a few months. It just seems like a protein conditioner to me. Someone is trying Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor since it has similar ingredients. I dont know if that person finally decided to try OCT.HTH.

Read the thread in chunks. That's what I did. When I found it, it was 120 pages long. I read the first page, then the last 20 pages. From there I was excited enough to read pages 50-100. I still haven't read pages 2-50. Now I keep up with it so I don't miss any developments.

It has not been "hype" for me (and quite a few people like Sareca, Dontspeakdefeat, etc.)

I have been using the Ovation line (all 3 products-see my avatar) and they work. The products smooth and strengthen the hair so that there is less breakage and therefore extending the growing phase of one's hair.

I think that if it did not work, so many people wouldn't have gone out to purchase the products. With that said, I got Mega-Tek because it was available at a local pet store and would have not bought it if I would have had to get it online. I also would not pay $60 for the OCT, but that's just me. Only time will tell if I will get accelerated growth from this product, but all the ingredients are great for hair, so if I don't end up with Rapunzel length hair by the end of the year at least I'll have stronger, healthier hair and isn't that why we are all here any way??

Really? I was just thinking the other day, if these products are so great (not just OCT, but all the products that promise this and that), how come these places don't offer a money back guarantee? Hmm, maybe once some of my other products run out I'll get the sampler pack.

The products are suppose to speed up hair growth. From what I have read, human users of Mega-Tek (for horses) are seeing results in as little as one week. The same company makes Ovation for human use with probably a milder version of the same ingredients.

I did some research on my own and found a testimonial for a horse owner who saw results in 3 days (she posted photos of her horse's bald spot and then another of the same area covered in hair).

I do not own these products and have not tried them. This is all based on what I have read on LHCF and what I have read on my own.

They taught us this in our pharmacology class. And to be honest that was one of my first thoughts when I was reading about Mega tak and OCT.

I don't know what will happen but all I know is the product makes my hair feel great! I have said repeatedly that if my hair didn't grow another inch it would not stop me from using this product.

I will continue to use it at this point unless it is no longer made.

And that is exactly why I ended up buying the product a couple of days ago....

The thought ran through my head so I went back to the old posts to check the ingredients and didn't see it there. And then I was completely sold on the product. I was trying to convince myself not to buy it but I really do not see any disadvatages in trying it out.

This is true, and even with the users of Minioxdil / Rogaine, it depends on the inital cause of hair loss that will determine if the regrowth remains after useage is stopped. If it is hormonal hair loss, then the user will lose the hair gained. If it was temporary hair loss caused by stress for example, the hair will likely remain after stopping the product.

As for the MT / OCT, the ingredients are all natural so the hair growth may slow down when useage as stopped but the hair should not fall out.

I am so happy with this product that I cut off most of my relaxed ends to start over (collarbone length to a fro)-this was not my plan even though I had 3 different textures going on (Straight ends, texlaxed middle and natural roots).I am not sure if I will relax my hair again or stay natural-I am so liking my natural 4a tight pen-like corkscrew coils and 4b thrown in. My last relaxer was dec 7th. It is hard to measure my new growth because It is hard to really tell the relaxed end from the natural end as my hair was texlaxed and I still have a couple inches of texlaxed hair at the top of my head.

I finally did a baseline measuremnt a week ago and will measure again in a month after that to see if I have increased growth.

I am happy with MT/OCT because-
1) my new growth is EXTREMELY DENSE/THICK like a forest! I can definately see new hair growing in where there was none before- the new hair is like baby fine hair and some of the new hair is grey and they all taper off at the end.

4)The old hair hair (longer length hair) seems to be growing in less greyer somehow- dont know how this is possible!? but I decided not to bother dying my hair for a while as it does not seem to look too grey as before.

5) I had a fist size bald spot on the top of my head (caused by a previous relaxer burn AND aggravated by anemia that had filled in before I started using MT/OCT). However this spot was a still a bit on the thin side and since using OCT/MT it has further thickened up and I can wear a part in the middle of my head AND not worry about it if I wanted to.

I will be using this line now, as long as they continue selling it.

Money-back guaranteed is just a marketing gimmick. Even if a company offers such guarantee, many people buy because of the guarantee but very few people return the product even if it does not work,. Especially when it is a low cost product.

I hear alot of people saying their grey hair is growing in faster. And I can't help but wonder if the ladies saying this are my age...cause honestly that is SCARY, especially since I don't have a grey hair in site!

It does not cause graying. If you are in your 20 years and you don't have gray hair you won't get any. However, if you have a dormant follical that has grayed, it will grow out. I doubt that you would but there are many, many young people who have a gray hair or 2. Most of the time, it's just not obvious. Don't be disturbed.

Thanks for answering my quesion. I was getting scared for a moment. My father's side of the family has very very strong genes...and they pretty much do not grey. My father is in his 50's and has never seen a grey hair yet! I hope that I have those genes.

Now I just have to hope that I don't have dormant follicles that are greying lol. But I doubt it.


I am actually getting excited about this product. I hope it works for me. I just need to figure out a routine.

I don't think it's hype at all. This is the only growth aid that I've ever used (and the only reason I started using was because of the excellent pictures that people were posting) - and I fully plan on continuing to use it until - I can't imagine a reason I would STOP using it, actually. It fits seamlessly into any routine, it smells good, it's cheap, it doesn't stain, and it leaves my hair feeling GREAT - it's damn near perfect!

I had a huge growth spurt, initially, and my growth seems to still be a little faster than normal. However! Even if it DIDN'T make my hair grow faster, my hair is distinctly thicker, my ends are getting fuller, and my breakage has come to a screeching halt. For the sake of the breakage alone, I'd be happy. I'm natural, and I KNOW that my breakage was negatively impacting how much hair I retained.
