Hello Everyone,
I have been natural since July 2009 and was going strong, but now I am freaking out. I have been rocking my fro and was cool, but now I am having a hard time combing through it. What do you use for detangling?
Good Morning Sweet1977 I use water and conditioner (Giovanni Smooth as Silk) to help me detangle. It works for me and keeps my hair soft. --They sell Giovanni at walmart now and you may get it from wholefoods too.
A lot of ppl swear by Knot Today by Kinky Curly. It might be a little pricey, but according to some ppl it works miracles. My mom has a TWA and she's been using Palmer's Coconut hair milk with good results. It's very inexpensive, about 3 or 4 bucks.
I have been using a shea butter/glycerine/coconut oil mix, but since my hair has gotten longer and thicker, it's not working so well anymore so I'm on the lookout for something else too. Good luck in your search.
try adding a tsp of baking soda to your conditioner and letting it sit at least 20 minutes. over a period of time your hair will start to be super soft and may even curl a little
I usually use a thick conditioner (after cowashing with a cheapie condish like Suave or VO5) like Trader Joe's Moisturizing, Hello Hydration and detangle under water. I just tried Qhemet Biologics Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee (I think that's the name, lol). It worked really well on my damp hair. HTH!
Alot of people use mane and tail detangler with sucess and even coconut oil. I usually just detangle with a creamy conditioner or if it's not wash day I use water mixed with oil and maybe a bit of conditioner.
