Is fotki the only place for pics or can u have somewhere else? Its too expensive to add more space. Please give me some other tips.

D, you only have a few pics there - no way you should be out of space already!

ok what you need to do is to resize/resample your images... this saves space but keeps the quality. http://www.irfanview.com/ <---- i use this. it's very easy to use and works perfectly for downsizing.

2nd, you can ask for an additional 10 MB (not 50 :perplexed) of space every month from them.

go to your fotki page and log in, click on >go to> run your cursor down to >my settings> on the right side it tells you how much space you've used, how much you have left and if you'd like some space (their @ discretion of course).

then go on and resize your photos and re-up them........you'll be good to go.

eta: all the pictures i have in my album take 65 MB of space only (i could prolly make it ever smaller but i'm too lazy to change my earlier photos)! that's how important it is to adjust your photo size before you up them to your album.

if you have gmail, you can use their photo album. You can keep pics private or make them public. You get 1024MB, but can also upgrade:
Please select a plan:
6 GB ($20.00 per year)
25 GB ($75.00 per year)
100 GB ($250.00 per year)
250 GB ($500.00 per year)

DDTexlaxed, you do not have to upgrade your account or pay anything for more space on fotki. All you have to do is go to "My Settings" and look at your "Account Information" box in the top right corner of the screen. You will see a blue link that says "Ask for extra 10MB space." Just click on it, and you'll get 10MB. You can request extra space every 30 days. I've been doing this forever and my fotki account is still free and active. I haven't had to pay a cent for anything with fotki.

Hope that helps!!!

LynneB, how do I use the reshaping site? I got confused.

first install infraview.

now on your computer, go to the folder where you store your pictures and right click on one of them.

a window will come up.....carefully look down the list until you see >open with> another window will open up, just move your cursor to where you see >infraview> and it's icon.

ok your picture is now opened with the infraview program.

now, click on >image> at the very top of the screen, scroll down and click on >Resize/Resample>

a window will now pop up with lots of scarier stuff on it but no worries, do this:

go to the circle with the words >Set new size> on it and put in either 430 or 340 - leave the other number alone as it will automatically change (you can play with the sizes to see which you prefer).

now click on >ok>

now, your picture has been resized. now you have to save the new picture. do this:

click on >file> then >save as> and type a name you'd like the photo to be called. also, if you want to save the picture in another spot, you can change where the new photo will be stored (or you can just choose to save it to your Desktop for easier finding.

when you're finished click >save>.

now you can just go to your fotki page and upload the NEW image (remember where you stored it on your pc).

eta: there will be other options available when you go to save your new picture. do not worry about this for now! the default setting should work fine.

if you have any problems, let me know.

Thank you, everyone! I think I will just follow PoohBear's advice, til fotki gets sick of me. When that happens, photbucket here I come.:yep:LynneB, my hubby hates for me to add software to my computer. It always gets some kind of worm or virus because it's old.
