Annulments from the Church...Anyone Else?

Major Re-edit:

Has anyone here gotten an annulment from their church? I'm presently going through the process. Would you like to discuss the ins and outs? Any opinions at all? Did you have a civil marriage? I did.

I am confused. Are you trying to get a civil marriage?

Are you Catholic or similar? Catholics do not believe in divorce but you can still get a civil marriage which the govt but not the church will recognize.

Farida, you done responded 10 years later lolol! Well, as in "have you had a civil marriage?" I'm already divorced...was wondering about the annulment process ...I've already started it with our contact for the Tribunal. If the ex doesn't send in those papers for the orthodox respondent for annulment of defective form (of course, the easiest and he's holding back), then I have to go through a formal annulment that will last a year. It's nullified because he didn't marry through the Church, making him excommunicated. That ninja just went through another civil marriage...arranged this time...and is going to have a wedding through the Church. Thank G-d I'm free.

At the time, I had just started the process and it hit me that the marriage wasn't considered a marriage at all. Of course, I was hoping for this type of easier annulment...but when you formally go through a process, all kinds of memories spring up. There's still a lot of prejudice against folks who divorce.

Ok lemme try, you and he married civilly, and then you tried to apply for an annulment then you realized the church does not recognize civil marriages...do I have it correct.

I know they will recognize a couple who were non-members of the religion and civilly married, 'married' for purposes of adultery etc, but if one person is a member or both are members and get a civil marriage it is not recognized.
