Hi my hair was breaking like crazy the past two weeks. I took a trim, went back to B&B Moisturizing Growth Lotion, deep conditioned with ORS Replenishing PK and airdried then applied setting lotion and set.

The breaking has stopped. I am only seeing one and two strands when I comb my hair. My hair has body and looks healthy and strong.

I am trying to figure out ORS or airdry first then set hair, which one really stopped the breaking or is it a combination of both.

What do you think ladies.

Also I tend to have dry hair and I wash twice a week. Yet i saw this on a website.

Option #1: The simple fix
You need a deep conditioner, stat. Look for a product that contains keratin and is labeled for dry, damaged hair. Run product throughout hair and leave on for several minutes. The product will absorb into your hair shaft and soften your hay-like strands. Time it takes: About 10 minutes, not including the shower. We suggest deep conditioning twice a week the first couple weeks, then continue once a week.

Try not to wash your hair every day, water is very drying to hair (not the shampoo). If you take a shower but opt not to wash your hair, protect your hair with a shower cap.

True or False Ladies. Am I washing my hair dry?

I am still searching for that perfect moisturizer though. I think coconut oil will work , maybe I will try it soon.

bumping.......

Wow! I've never heard that water can make hair dry. I've heard that shampooing to often is drying but not rinsing or conditioner washing. I was told by a stylist once that I should wash my hair more frequently since I suffer from dry hair.

That is what I thought too. I was twice a week but was thinking of doing it only once a week now just to see what happens.

I've heard that water is very moisturizing for the hair! I don't think that statement about it drying out the hair is correct.:nono:

I have a problem with dry hair/scalp and the only thing that helped was washing more frequently. I poo (1 lather) and DC (hot towel, plastic cap, with heat) every 3-4 days. I DC with ORS Replenishing or Elasta QP DRP-11. My dry scalp is not dry anymore. Water is a natural moisturizer. :yep:

It will probably help you to moisturize and seal regularly as well.

ETA: Simply using a poo for dry and damaged hair that contains keratin (protein) isn't enough. The shampoo may have sulfates which are drying. Also for me, I'm protein sensitive so any type of protein can be drying. Make sure your shampoo is moisturizing without sulfates.
