i ran out of ors. so i went to pathmark and bought another jar. the joint was $7.48 :wallbash: when i was coming on my way back home i began to think of a thread i read on the board, where a lady commented on the fact that the ingredients had changed. as soon as i got here i compared the labels of the new jar and the old one. sure enough they are hella different. hte new jar is ridiculous. CONTAINING: MINERAL OIL, PETROLEUM, AND LANOLIN! of the many horrific things. all kinds of colors and scents. nothing like the organic mix that was in the old jar. i really want to return this, but do they not make the old ors anymore? and what should i buy as a new moisturizer after i make this return? im so mad.

^^ i dunno if they still make the old one. if you want something similar, try ors carrot oil. it has none of the bad ingredients.

Sorry, I am new to ORS olive oil in a jar. I think I had better go home a check my ingrediants list though. I really don't use it as a moiturizer I use it more as a sealant. I might have made that decision after purchasing a jar and seeing mineral oil. I use Protecttv hair creme and sunsilk hair creme for moiturizer. The Protecttv hair creme does not have any or that stuff in it (I think, I know no mineral oil or lanolin) and it is super light.I like it. It has helped with my breakage completely.

bolded is good for my hair ends. I also noticed that they changed the ingredients in the ORS olive oil jar..but it sure still smells yummy!:lick:

I was planning on buying this but I think I'll focus on something else. I mean really why pay all that money for those ingredients when they are in other stuff I use that cost much less.

what are the ingredients in the carrot oil? should i purchase that, the hawiian silky, or the sunsilk hair creme? I NEED A MOISTURIZEERRRR!!!!:wallbash:

about the smell, it's not that bad. plus you get used to it after a while.

personally, i like the sunsilk creme better b/c it is very light, but it does have mineral oil in it. i use sunsilk when i wear my hair down & the carrot oil for bunning.

I haven't tried the others that you mentioned in the above list so I can only go on what I have tried..which was the ORS. But other ladies seem to have good results with the other items. I don't use ORS exclusively for moisture... I also use Herbal Essence's break's over creme, UBH hair lotion creme and dew spray. I have even used my suave cheapie conditioner as a moisturizing leave-in on my sahara desert dry crown area.:yep: I mainly use my ORS when my ends are dry.

hth!

very informative! thank u :yep: and thanks to the rest of the ladies for ur much appreciated input. i'm gonna definetly exchange this for the carrot oil today! have a good one guys!

I'm sorry but I LOVE MY ORS OLIVE OIL in a jar. It has never let me down, my hair thrives when i use it. Now the carrot oil i absolutely hate, it did nothing for my hair (imo). It took me a whole year just to use the one jar i purchased. And i already know the ors olive oil in the bottle sucks, too.

My thoughts exactly, wheezy807. ORS Olive Oil in the jar is my best friend! I never go without it. It keeps my hair so hydrated and silky. I've been using it for 6 years now and hadn't even noticed that the ingredients have changed!

so u guys haven't had any breakage or bad experiences using the jar with the mineral and petroleum??

I just started using the olive oil in the jar and have no complaints :look:. I needed something heavier with the changing of the seasons. I just use a little dab at night, wrap it up and in the morning its soft and silky.

wow! i just looked at my jar of ors olive oil trying to find moisturizing ingrediants and noticed that the big jar has mineral oil in it too. i remeber whtn the little jar had it and the big jar didnt. i'mnot madd though because if i didnt take a look at the ingrediants, i wouldnt have known. it still treats my hair well with the mineral oil being in it, so i'll keep it.

Just because they have some of the same ingredients does not mean that they have them in the same amount. It also doesn't mean that other products are as effective as ORS.

ORS Olive Oil is one of my favorite moisturizers and is a definite must-have for the winter! My hair is grateful, lol.

ITA!! Before using this and if I don't use it, my hair is D-R-Y and thirsty. ORS OO in the jar turns my hair around instantly. Then I seal it with Castor oil and I'm good all day.:yep:

Oh, man...so it's the ORS Olive Oil in the "jar" and NOT the bottle?

Ok...I bought the bottle but haven't used, yet.

Another question -

ORS and Organics are not the same company? I ask because I think I purchased a bottle of Organics Carrot Oil...darn these companies riding on the ORS coat tail :nono:

I'll need to return that as well...

So that I'm clear - I need to purchase the Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil in the "JAR"?

and does ORS make the carrot oil in the jar or was it just the bottle?

Thanks, Ladies (this is what I get for being a PJ...buying too much and not knowing what I'm buying  )

**runs and looks a newly bought bottle of Olive Oil* Awww durn it!! :wallbash::wallbash: Well my precious Cantu Break Cure Strengthning treatment will fail me not....hopefully.... it has lanolin oil in it but it's not one of the first ingredients so i'm cool with this.... I'm sad about my ORS though....that's my staple!

Yes, ORS OO in the jar is thicker than ORS OO in the bottle, it costs costs a little more too. Right, ORS and Organics are not the same company. Yeah, I've mistaken the two before. The name and labels are similar:ohwell: I'm not sure about the carrot oil, but yes, the OO is definately in a jar. It has a green top on the jar.

I thought they were trying to be sneeky. Something said "heeey, wait a minute - I don't think this is the same thing".

Thanks, Hairapy
