Okay so I havent used leave in conditioner in like a year and I had cantu. Other than that I don't mind Lustrasilk mango whatever it is.
I really do prefer just using oil in my hair but I do sometimes find that I have to reapply often. I just started using JBCO and it keeps my hair soft and moisturized for a long time but what do you all think??

What are the benefits of a good leave in conditioner that using oil will not get you?

What are some really good but LIGHT leave in conditioners that you would recommend? :perplexed

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe oil can't moisturize hair. It does however help trap in moisture. This is why some ladies use it to "seal" after moisturizing.

I personally use the Lustrasilk Sheabutter Mango you mentioned. I love that it is water based yet has oils built in. Its the best of both worlds for me, plus I really love how my curls come out with it. Sometimes I will seal with jojoba if my hair seems extra thirsty.

i thought coconut oil and jojoba oil were the only ones small enough to penetrate the hair strand.

someone please clarify for me too...

Well I put it on my hair when it's wet so it seals in the moisture. Because I wouldnt be putting anything else in my hair I consider that moisturizing. I should have clarified.. But i really meant oil in general and yea coconut oil does penetrate. :)

IMO If something works for your hair, whos to say its "wrong"? :) Coconut oil as a leave in makes my head go all crunchy but I know it works wonders for others.

I actually use a leave in, and then an oil. I do what's best for my hair.

For now, my leave in of choice is: Scurl, Infusium, Suave Coconut and water in a spray bottle. I moisturize with EVCO, then seal with CD Mimosa hair honey or shea butter.

What about a glycerin/water mix? Would this be a moisturiser/sealer combination?

I'm currently in a full weave as a PS. I workout almost everyday, so I've started rinsing my braids and scalp with water every other day, then applying this combo. I also sometimes use it after my weekly co-wash/DC.

Thoughts? I appreciate the advice!

Using just oil is fine if your hair is wet or damp when you apply it. I used to do this but realized I had to keep doing it everyday. Now I use diluted Vo5 as my moisturizer and then seal with oil and my hair stays moisturized for about 3-4 days.

I love VO5 I use it for my cowashing and usually leave a tiny bit in on my ends but that such a good idea. I have no idea why I didnt think of just using it as my leave in along with the water. Its definitely light enough.
Thanks !

I use Hydrotherma Naturals Protein Balance leave in and Sally GVP Paul Mitchell The Conditioner. The moisture, slip, and conditioning I get cannot be found with an oil on my hair. I use oil to seal with, not moisturize.
