OK my ladies I need help!
My hair is in the best shape ever despite the coloring job I put it through.
Today at work I got 5 compliments about my hair from 5 different people!!!
ONe lady didn't even work on my floor (i.e. doesn't know me from Adam) and she complimented me.

My deal is how do you answer graciously without seeming arrogant or conceited?

I also think that we here at LHCF have our own culture and language. So lately when people have asked me about my hair, I think I just answered like I was here at LHCF and they're probably like  is this chick talkin about?

Oops on my part.

I smile and say, Thank You!:)

Me too!:) I think they will see that it's genuine.

Just smiling and thanking them won't seem conceited at all, but what will seem conceited if you just don't say anything. As you are formulating what to say, I know in your mind, you may be trying to figure out how to respond, but in their mind, they may actually think you are being conceited when you don't graciously accept the comment right then.

Good luck on getting along with your hair. (per your siggy!)

I agree, I hate getting compliments, it makes me really uncomfortable so I try to say thank you, but sometimes I try to play it off because I don't want to come off as conceited or arrogent.

Smile and say thank you. I know when I give compliments, all I expect is a thank you and for the person complimented to feel good.:)

KNow what else I expect? Inside info!:D I want to know how you got your hair to look like that! That's usually the next thing to come out of my mouth after they say thank you.

And thank you all for your suggestions!:)

When people give me a compliment, i say thank you or smile and shrug it off, i have a hard time accepting them. but i will say this there is a girl at my job with really pretty hair, when people compliment her, she says thank you sometimes and sometimes she will give her hair an extra shake and touch it and brag about, now that gets on my d@mn nerves. i just look away.

Since I am natural it is usually a compliment followed by questions. I am used to it now and I love talking about hair so it doesn't bother me. It's usually when I think my hair is looking rough that people compliment me

Just graciously say "Thank you". Don't hate getting compliments. Enjoy it. You do have lovely hair. And the person who gives you a compliment is being sincere. So sincerely receive it.
