Onion Skins Y'all.

After seeing this thread when it was first posted, I fiiiinally made the onion skin tonic. I half-filled a glass mason jar with onion skins and poured enough boiling hot water to cover the skins. Like Roots in the video, I added a spoonful of nettle, a spoonful of honey and a little extra virgin olive oil. I let this steep overnight, and the next day added about 300ml of rose and hibiscus infused vodka (made this the day before). It's in a cupboard and I shake it up every day or two.

Tomorrow, I'll strain it off and start using. I've already had two requests for some so I plan to get some small spray bottles to decant into.

Bump.

Are you still using the onion skin rinse? If so, what have you noticed over time?

Looking for something to curb excessive shedding. Initial results from this thread seem promising. Wanted to know how it's worked over time.

I still do the rinse whenever I have onions. I don’t know if it’s helped me with shedding. I use it because it’s supposed to be good for your scalp.

What has helped me the most with shedding is doing a rinse of coffee, fenugreek & black tea.

I haven’t used the tonic in over a year, maybe. I did finish my mason jar, and I also enjoyed using it for the health of my hair and scalp. It’s been a while and I’ve lost my original notes and pictures. I can’t recall the effects, but I did enjoy it. I should see if I can piece things together if I made posts around that time. I do have a load of onion skins ready to prepare another batch sometime.

Okay, thank you!

Yes, I also have a lot of onion skins from years ago. I kind of forgot what it does and then this thread popped up for me. Since I was having some scalp issues, thought I would try it out again.

Looking back, I see that not only did I use this as a leave-in scalp tonic, but I would also use this as liquid addition in my clay masks for hair/ skin.
