One Year Anniversary! (Progress Pic in siggy)

APL to BSL in one year is great progress!
And the fact that it looks even now is awesome.

Can we get some more photos please? I know I'm being greedy but I thought I would ask.

How am I doing ladies? I joined LHCF one year ago this month, however I began my healthy hair care journey in Oct. 2006. The pic in my avatar is the beginning of my journey, chewed up ends and all! The pic in my siggy was taken this evening, 1 yr. and 4 mo. later. I have not had any cuts or trims and my uneven ends have almost caught up with one another! It's like they were in a race for the finish line...BSL! :lachen:

So tell me, how'd I do as a "newbie?"

WOW......you got some good growth girl!

Congratulations on your one year on LHCF!

I have been keeping photos since Oct. 2006, but I don't have a fotki (I use to have one, but my free subscription expired). If I can figure out how to decrease the size of those babies and attach more than one photo, I will definitely share more photos! My hubby will have to help me with that...he's my "camera man!":lachen:

I need to dig to find old pics for sure. I only found one wet/beach hair.

But girl, now you are right up there with another favorite BabygurlNC!

I hope I'm as successful as you, I started my journey around the same time as you.

Congrats!

That's funny because that's exactly who I got the idea from to put my hair up like that! I got it from her 6-13-06 Progress Pics folder.

This guy at work had the nerve to question me about the style asking, "What's the thinking behind THAT hairstyle?" I asked him, "Why, you don't like it?" He replied with, "It's interesting...":ohwell: I wanted to say, "Oh yeah...so are YOU buddy!"

Oh Wow! Beautiful. Did you share your regimen yet?

Oh Wow! Beautiful. Did you share your regimen yet?

In the beginning, I experimented with my regimen until I found that a simpler one works better (for me) than a complicated one.

Here are some growth aides that I've experimented with: MTG and BT (keeping these in case of any major setbacks), Henna (way too drying), Surge (still use occasionally), MSM (made my ng grow in softer/looser), Biotin (gave me hella bad acne the size of cysts!). As you can see, I became a PJ early in the game!

What I've learned about my excessive shedding: my hair rejects EVOO...made me shed like a dog! Threw that crap straight in the trash. Now, plain ole' olive oil, I can do. Also, just recently switched from no-lye to a lye relaxer. No-lye was just too dry.

Here is what I do (if you want to call this a regimen): wash and DC weekly, moisturize regularly (I don't do this daily...don't want overkill), use hooded dryer or air dry (sometimes both, half and half), flat iron on wash day only, sleep in satin doo-rag & bonnet, and I self relax.

The one thing that I truly believe is working best for me is STRETCHING my relaxers. I stretch up to 12 wks. at a time (wish I could go longer, but hasn't happened yet).

Occasionally, I experiment with different shampoos, conditioners, moisturizers and protein treatments.

If I can think of anything else, I'll add...but I think that's it. HTH

I'm jealous your ends caught up without being trimmed. I must be doing something wrong!
But you have GREAT progress! Congrats!
