I am on the fence and need your help - I am looking for Pros & Cons. I really want to know before I make the investment.

Thank you in advance for your HELP :yawn::yawn:

I have a hair steamer and the pibbs dryer. Its a nice machine but In all honesty its not necessary at all. I haven't used my steamer in months and my hair is still moisturized even with this harsh winter. If you don't mind payin for it and have room go for it. I got mine for 120.

I have a steamer. It is a "I can't do without it" part of my hair regimen. My hair has always been dry no matter what I did to it, i.e., DC'd over night, moisturized daily, etc. With the steamer, I no longer have to DC over night, my hair stays moisturized, the DCs work better and my strands are stronger than they've ever been. And the hot oil treatments are out of this world plus it has opened up other avenues to getting strong, moisturized hair!

I cannot do withouth my steamer!

Pros: the steam feels great, I believe it's good for the scalp, it does moisturize hair (or at least it did mine). Some units double as a face steamer.
Cons: Steamers are expensive. If you get a standing unit, it takes up a lot of room. If you get a smaller unit, I'm not sure if they can fold up/be put away easily. It's not something that's essential.

I can't remember the exact date I purchased my steamer, but I paid $120 and it was less than a year ago...it's slowly fell apart and I used it max 6 times. If I could go back in time, I would not repurchase a standing unit, but the Huetiful hair steamer appears to take up much less room & this lady demonstrated how she used hers as a face steamer: YouTube - Huetiful Steamer Facial Attachment Review

Good luck with your decision! If you want it, and you can afford it, go for it.

I don't really have any pros and cons, I just found steaming didn't do any added benefits for me. It felt nice, but my hair felt better with just leaving the conditioner on longer or overnight. I also don't prefer to sit still to deep condition. I think it'll just depend on what your hair likes. Some swear by it, where others like me are like...eh, it's aight. You can try a bootleg steam session to see if your hair responds well to it.

I had the same experience as your cheeziness. If I were you I would go to a salon for a few treatments and see how your hair responds.

You have to ask yourself some questions:

How would you describe your hair? Tendency towards dryness (or) relatively supple and easy to moisterize?

Do you have the space for one?

and the most important question of all...will you actually use it?

My hair has a tendency towards dryness. I love steamer, I use it weekly. I wipe it down and roll it away when I'm done. I also use distilled water instead of regular tap water to ensure it will keep running smoothly for years and won't build up any icky stuff (I want my investment to last). I pick up a gallon at the grocers. At less than a $1.00 a gallon its worth it for me because even though I dc with it every week a gallon lasts me a little over 2 months.

I absolutely love my steamer!!! I have a floor steamer and have had it for 2 years.

Pros, your hair is soft and supple.

Cons - very big and hard to hide in my tonwhome.

Hope this helps! Maybe you should get a tabletop!

I love my steamer and will not be without it.

Pro: My hair is softer and has much more volume which is a plus since I have fine hair. I am able to retain most of my length as well stretch my relaxer from 8 weeks to 16 weeks because my new growth is so soft.
My hair looks very healthy all the time with a nice shine.

Con: I have a stand up model which takes up a lot of space, along with my Pibbs dryer.
Even though I have had the steamer for a little over two years, that is HOT!!!!!! to sit under especially after a fresh relaxer.
My wash sessions are longer too.

I have the Heutiful Steamer (table top) and I absolutely love it!!! The health of my hair has taken on a whole 'nother level for the best! My regret is that I didn't purchase sooner.

Pros: Increases the effectiveness of my conditioners.
Hair maintains moisture through the week.
Helped w/ shedding - noticed a decrease in shedding.
Hair is sooooo soft!
Easy to store
Noticed immediate difference in my hair

Con: The dome doesn't completely cover my entire head, I have to turn around to
steam the nape.
