Olive Oil Infusion: What Msg Is She Sending Out for Naturals?

Yeah I didn't like the clip at all. The production was awful, not to mention what is actually in the products themselves. The oil is 93% olive oil with some lavender and sage - so why not just make your own, followed by a moisturizing conditioner, once again I can do all this with products I already have. Nothing new or exciting about this. Def not worth the money.

It annoys me how she says her hair is tangled in a fro and unmanageable. Umm, it's called detangling with the right products and styling your hair when curly/wet to avoid massive tangles. This product is for lazy ppl who don't want to learn about hair care.

I don't doubt the product infuses moisture and strength into the hair but...do you truly need to show a straightened "after" to demonstrate that the hair is in better condition? Sigh....

She showed it curly & straight. She used the wide tooth comb to demonstrate manageability while it was still curly. She chose to style her hair straight & I don't see a problem with that. Is straight hair the devil around here or something?

I didn't like the writing on the chalk board. It's highly annoying & made me cringe lol.

As written up post, I usually go to the web site, view the ingredients and mix it myself to see if it for my hair. I have been burned to the tune of major bucks trying CD products and then realize they do not mix well with my hair. ( my friends love it; they get an almost new bottle free :0) the accompanying khemet smoothie seems to have a lot of chemicals in it.

They don't even bother mentioning the outlandish prices they charge for those extremely basic products. Basically, she just pre-pooed with olive oil and DC'ed. What is so special about that to warrant a whole video? It is TEN DOLLARS for one tiny 2 oz vial of olive oil and $18 for that janky smoothie. And I'm sure that girl needed damn near the whole tub (I know I would need at least half). Highway robbery!

I'll reiterate...why demonstrate straight hair as healthy and manageable and her naturally curly hair as difficult, dry and unmoisturized? The before/after is rather strange for a product that was first pushed for natural hair.

I think the issue is that she was bad mouthing her curly hair which was actually loose waves...talking about how wild, unmanageable, and tangled it is.

She sure had an easy, effortless time parting that tangled, wild, crazy, unmanageable hair that she can do nothing with other than put a headband on.

After using this miracle product *yeah, eye roll* it can now be styled into this smooth, sleek, straight hair.

I thought the whole video was annoying.

This is geared towards transitioners and naturals who prefer strait hair. Nothing more, nothing less. There isn't always a message when marketing a product. She's following dollar signs because she knows there are naturals who want strait hair without the relaxer. It's not that deep!

You don't have to put down something to promote something else.

I feel you, but I am only going by the way I was raised. Most of the natural women in my family hot combed their hair. They preferred the strait look. In their eyes, showing their naps is a no no. CD is only marketing to this to fulfill a need. Since she is a trusted brand, she is going to try to make herself money by making this commercial. She isn't the only one who makes commercials like this. I just saw a commercial fro Garneir Fructis on a blow out product that is supposed to keep your hair strait for 3 days. It seems strait hair is just universally viewed as easily cared for hair. zi have only seen commercials about how to make your hair curls pop on here and you tube.

I don't really see anything wrong with the video. I feel like people are cherry picking things to fault it. I do agree that the actual product can easily be made/is overpriced, but hey, it's a business. I'm not knocking her hustle. ;)

Also, I don't feel as though she was putting down naturally curly hair, per se, but I can definitely see how it can be perceived as so.

I was confused because I didn't understand which products she was using. Then I went to the website and realized that it was CD products...without the full explanation. No thankies.

Wow, went to the website. If your hair is longer than 12" they recommend that you use 1/3 of the container on the hair.

But given this explanation, its clear who they are trying to help. I now know other cheaper ways to handle it. But for those who don't want to do their own research, I could see how it could help them.

I don't really get what the uproar is about. It just seemed like a basic semi-infomercial spliced with a review. I liked the after (pre-straightened style). I can understand (without agreeing with) her putting down HER hair and I know that there are alot of women that feel that same way. I'm not one of them.... to me ALL hair is beautiful. Straight, wavy, curly, kinky coily.... it's all awesome in it's own way. Hair is fascinating to me... especially the properties of our natural hair.

I really don't think it's that deep. I've never tried CD hair products and I probably won't based on the prices/ingredients and what I've seen/researched/read on here. I'd much rather spend it on stuff that I know will work on my grass. As for the body stuffs.... I'm really tempted to try them and if it weren't for my uber sensitive skin, I would be sooooddddo on it.

I'm just gonna copy my youtube comment and paste it here because I really can't elaborate on such a ridiculously unnecessary useless video

"huh? lmao. where's the beef?"

In an analogy, people don't say "Negro" anymore, "African American" is the preferred speech. CD ought to know how to talk to naturals when addressing them while pushing her product. People take notice. People will straighten or revert their hair all the time...but it's approaching the derogatory with these same conjured images of bad versus "good."

Napputurality, LHCF and several other sites, including Ouidad, have changed the public mindset towards the acceptability and professionalism of having natural curls displayed in the workforce. Part of the success on acceptance is changing the perception of curly hair. There are similar issues with younger or older women with very long classic length hair in the workplace. It can negatively affect a person's livelihood but if society changes to be fair and celebrate diversity, then those negative effects are lessened. This is simply a revolution in the makes.

I am so damn tired of folks using racially ambiguous women with slightly curly hair to market toward black women! Show me one of my own damnit!

Dang. Her "before" was cute IMO. Why was she trying to comb from her roots?

The chalk board was annoying.

LMAO at the comment: sideeye(dot)com :lachen:

ITA with this. Lisa is trying to further expand her line and I don't see anything wrong with that.

I took a look at the other vids on her channel and her line is not just for black women. There are a lot of different races and hair types being marketed towards (white, asian, mixed, relaxed). I also thought this line was exclusively for black naturals but it seems she's trying to expand her customer base.

and lol @ people hating on the chalk board  really??
