Hi ladies, did Ya'll miss me

I really did try to figure this out on my own!

Honestly I thought my hair game was on-lock and washing days were a breeze for me. That is up until I hit the 18month mark :nono: Nearly every week I have to cut some strands off due to knots/tangles etc. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong because most days my hair is left in a ponytail/bun, so I protective style 24/7

My regimen is; co-wash every other day with Knot-curly and seal with cocunut oil. I use a deep conditioner & a protein treament once a week.

My hair loves protein.. so I know that's not the issue.

Should I start to comb everyday? (right now, I comb every other day)

Hey girlie  I had the same problem when my hair started growing and I've pretty much given up on wearing it curly. I do a blow out on cool and bun or keep it braided. I flat iron when I'm trying to get fancy. The curly girl method works for alot of people. They finger comb daily I think.

Thanks @Foxglove

@nappystorm - Heyyy gorgeous! Yeah, I'm thinking about doing that but I'm afraid of heat damage.

Are you DIY'er? What kind of flat iron do you use? Your hair looks really straight.. nice siggie.

I'm a DIY. I just use a cheap Conair from Wal-Mart that goes up to 400 degrees. That siggy pic is a Dominican blowout that I got for my b-day. They did a roller set and blew out the roots with a round brush.

If you want straight hair but are afraid of heat damage, I recommend rollersetting and wrapping at night. You texture should straighten pretty easily.

Beautiful hair! Have you tried any protective styles that require stretching your hair? Like maybe a twist out?

I've never tried a roller set before (off to google that )

@BostonMaria - Thanks hun! my twist outs are always a big fail  But yh, maybe I should look into styles that stretch my hair.

Thanks for the tip, much appreciated.

Welcome Back..Maybe you should try to finger comb & large braids/twists..With extra oil in the ends...

*Keep us posted..

Happy Hair Growing!

Ditto this. Once my hair got to the same length yours is, I started having the exact same problems. I actually just did a mild texturizer, and that's helped out a ton. I'm putting myself on a WnG diet as well, and keeping my hair braided up whenever I'm not outside.

Welcome back. You might consider wearing your straight or stretched out (twistouts, braidouts, or bantu knots) more often. That has helped me a lot with those ssks. BTW I have total curl envy looking at your hair.

My hair gets very tangled when I wear it in a bun! I don't know why, but detangling is a nightmare if my hair has been up. I have found that wash and gos actually help me. It's like the gel keeps my hair from tangling as much.

Beautiful curls!

Since I have the same suggestion (wearing more stretched styles) as a couple of other ladies...I will just  looking at your beautiful curls!

I wish I knew. I'm dealing with serious tangles and shedding the past month. I know every time it gets like this, I have to cut. I was hoping to wait until Fall to do a length check but I might give in before summer.

Heyyy!! Don't I know you from somewhere?

My advise to you(if you'll take it from an ol' Afghan head), is to leave your hair alone. Comb once a weak and PS, finger combing when necessary. It looks like your hair is growing nicely anyway.
