I need some serious hair advice! I have recently noticed my hair looks like it is thinning. Particular the roots area on the crown and the edges on the sides.
My hair has always been crazy thick all over! Now, starting like an inch from the root to the tip, it is still pretty full. But when I pull it pack in a pony tail, I can see little parts of my scalp on the side area and on the top of my head unless I fluff it around certain way to try and cover it. Its never been like that! Before you would have to work at taking a peak at my scalp by parting it or something!
Now it could be a couple of things. First I have been re-touching more often than usual. I use to wait until at least 3 monthes. But the last 3 times I did it within 2 monthes because my new growth was growing like crazy! I read that thinning caused by chemicals is accompanied by scarring but I don't have any of that and I think I would have noticed if my scalp was burned wouldn't I?
Another thing is I went off my low dose estrogen pills for month. I just went back on cause my periods are too horrible to deal with(I thought I could brave them again, but the week before last proved me wrong!)Anyway, I read that hormone changes like pregnancy or going off the pill can cause temporary hair thinning.
Anyway, if anyone has anymore advice or ideas on this let me know! I've already purchased some Nioxin products but anything I can add to expedite the return of my lush roots fill me in ! TIA!

Do you wear your hair in a particular style all the time? If so, try different styles.

Also, how often do you comb your hair? If it's a lot during the day, cut down the number of times you comb your hair. And when u do comb it, comb it in sections, dont rake through the whole hair shaft.

I thought being on the pill can cause hair loss. I use to be on a pill for about a year out of my whole life and when I got off, my hair got thicker.

I know it could be a number of causes but I hope what I said helps a lil bit. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hmmm...well, On average I only comb my hair once a day at the most when its wet during a condition wash or regular shampoo and condition. I just started doing the "combing in sections" thing though so that may help!

I normally air dry my hair and wear it curly and out. Lately I have been doing the ponytail thing though when I'm in my 3rd week and on of new growth. Something new I have been doing is loosley pinning my hair back and putting on a scarf over it before bed every night. Could this cause it? I know tons of ladies who do this with no problems but maybe my scalp is wierd?
Thanks for the tips! I'll do what I can!

Yeah, I thought about it but I've heard mixed things about it and I'm so afraid of making anything worse than it is! Have you had good experience with it personally?
