Why? B/c I did my very own touch-up today and it went wonderful!! LONG but WONDERFUL none the less. It took me and hour on each side. *whew* I followed LondonDiva's method of self relaxing with the head cap I got it a lil bit wet, but not too much. I felt like I could have relaxed allll my head instead of side by side, but I think this method is much more efective, anyways right now its conditioning and I'll wash it, add my products and style and will post pictures... If I can self-relax anybody can and that's the truth!!

I need to get scissors so I can trim my ends though.. Also after the relaxer has been activated can I keep it??

And now if my hair doesn't make any progress then it's my fault I can no longer blame a stylist, but I will see if there is progress when I style my hair :-D

Thanks for all the great advice I got here that's what made it possible!! thanks!!!

I think I have given up on salons too. I hadn't had a perm since Oct. 2004 and I decided to self-relax a few weeks ago. My husband helped me and it took about 4 hours (I did four sections, relaxing each individually) but it turned out great. I wanted my hair somewhere between texturized and relaxed and I refused to pay someone $70 to basically underprocess my hair. I won't be relaxing again until 6-06, but I will definitely be doing it myself (with hubby's help).

Oh thats great! I know when I tried it i got my other section wet a little but I think next time I try it I will get someone to help.

I used Den1's self-relaxing instructions. I really recommend having someone help you. I have tried to self-relax on my own in the past, and the results were much better when I had help.

I love LondonDiva's self-relax method in the sections with the shower cap. I have a hard time doing it in three sections though. I have had an easier time doing two big sections (back and then front). I will NEVER let someone else do my relaxer and that INCLUDES a family member. I have been researching and studying and going to great pains to protect and change my hair and noone in my family (nor friends) has the same understanding.

Ok I updated the album

You really can't tell but I do have some underprocessed places :( oh well I feel great and I didn't pay a frickin dime!!! I gained two inches in 4 months..I guess that is good?? IDK I am almost 18 inches... bra-strap on me is about 22" I should looking at bra-strap at DEC!!!! if I have no set-backs, Im so excited this went so well....

Congrats on the 1st of many self relaxers you will do for yourself. I may take a look a Londondiva's methods (although I still feel like I may jack my hair up LOL).
