Coils coils & more coils!
*~* Ok ladies! Today is the day...I\'m Starting!*~*
Hello everyone! I posted here a few months ago (my first and only time). First, thanks for all of the tips and advice that you have given me
. Everyone here is so helpful. I can't wait to get my hair back to the way that it used to be again!
My Hair story...
When I was younger, my hair was healthy and long (half way down my back & thick). Near the end of grade school, I had a lot of breakage, and got my hair cut short. Only my split ends were suppose to be cut...but my beautician went a little chop happy on me. After a while my hair slowly started to recover. Then in middle school, mandatory swimming came. The chemicals in the pool damaged my hair almost beyond repair (more breakage and thinning) :-(. On top of that...like a dummy,
I was using gel and other products that contained alcohol.
Now...
My hair has recovered well. Currently my hair is a little past neck length in the back (touches my shoulder blades), and on the sides it is a little shorter (past chin length). I had all of my split ends cut off today 12/19/03 to help encourage growth, and I also got a relaxer (my last one was in August). I usually get a relaxer once every 4 months...but now...I try to hold off and get one every 5 or 6 months. I wised up, and cut out ALL hair products that contain alcohol!
My short term goal...
By May or late June, I would like to have my hair at least past shoulder length. I will be washing my hair 2 times a week, and giving myself a hot oil treatment about once a week. *Please don't quote me on the hot oil treatment.
My long term goal is...
To grow my hair past bra strap length. I really don't have a set time for this.
The products that I am using...
Black Seed Herbal Conditioning Shampoo
Black seed Natural Conditioning Hair Pomade
Keracare Leave-in Conditioner
Keracare Dry Scalp Conditioner *when my hair gets really dried out
I oil my hair twice a week. Since it is winter now, I will be oiling it a little more than that. My scalp tends to get really dry...especially during the winter.
My daily vitamin regimen...
MSM
Flaxeed Oil
B-complex
Vitamin C
Evening Primrose
Multi Mineral / Multi Vitamin
*A big thanks to the ladies who recommended the vitamins to me.
Tips that I have learned here that i am trying...
A large tooth comb to comb out when wet, or just using my finger tips...
Letting my hair dry on its own... no more towels...no more blow dryers...
A satin night cap every night. *haven't gotten around to the satin pillow case yet!
I have also started a diet and exercise routine. This wasn't so much for my hair...but for my over all health. I read here that exercise helps stimulate hair growth, so that is just an added bonus.
I will be popping in from time to time for new tips, and to give updates on this post. I vow to become less of a *lurker*.
Wish you all a happy holiday!
