My brother did it. I cut the majority of with scissors as low as I could. Then got him to cut it with some clippers.

As for work, I encourage you to at least consider wearing it out. I felt weird too after my BC. Long story short, I ended up wearing my new cut and it felt great. To my surprise I got a ton of compliments.
