I know we have a Salon Review Thread but I posted this here because I know this area gets the most traffic...

We have a member (Tniccoleh) that is new to the area. She is looking for a good stylist. Now, when I say good stylist I mean one that KNOWS what a TRIM is, who is reputable and have good BUSINESS ETIQUETTE (that means no Shaquans and Ne Ne's who like to eat and talk on the phone while they are doing hair), knows how to give a good relaxer (without leaving a land mine of scabs on your head), and an individual whose services do not require, an arm, a leg, and your firstborn (reasonably priced).

Your hospitality and assistance in helping Tniccoleh would be greatly appreciated. We value our NC LHCF ladies and we try our best to help out any way that we can. Also, please visit the meeting forum, we really are trying to get a mini-meet together before our regular meeting in the fall. Take care ladies and thanks again!

Sorry to say I am not in Fayetteville NC, I am Eastern NC and I go to Center Stage Hair Affair in Havelock, NC.

Havelock is a small town located near New Bern/Morehead City, very close to the ocean.:)

You are approximately 150 miles (or more) west of Havelock.:)

sorry ladies, i'm of no use whatsoeva.

haven't been to a salon in years and years. my mom used to go to Dominitions on Ramsey Street to get her cut and perms done but since she's gone natural, she strictly goes to Fantastic Sams. First the one on Rosehill Rd and Country Club and now to the one on Highway 210 (right across from the new Super Walmart) in Spring Lake cause it's closer to where we live.

she gets a pixie cut aka twa shape-up.

she loves them.

I was watching Tyra and she had a very good tip when it comes to trimming . She said or rather her guest said we should make sure we SHOW the stylist where or how much we want them to trim by physically simulating it on our hair. So if we want our hair cut to our shoulders we should put our hands up to our shoulders. If we only want 1 inch cut off, we should take a piece of hair and show them what 1/2 an inch is (an inch to them is probably a yard to us) on the actual piece.

Verbal communication is not enough when it comes to cutting, dusting or trimming. I know for a FACT scissor happy stylists is a universal problem that blacks, whites, hispanics, women and MEN complain about.

Ok I've heard of that area. It's nice!

I just moved from Fayetteville a few months ago so I guess I can be of some help. I used to go to Heritage International off of Reilly Rd. to a lady named Tangi Clark. Did good hair, it grew, never trimmed too much, could cut a REAL good style whether short or long, highlights, I've had her do pretty much everything. If you're interested pm me for a number. Also I can give you the Myspace page of another lady that did my hair named Tahsa that has pictures of her work that also does hair in Fayetteville. She does hair really well also. I used to switch between the two depending on my mood

Thanks!! Thanks all!!

I am a little familiar with Fayetteville/Fort Bragg. I don't do the "flashy/trendy hair thang." I look for practicle/sinsible stylists that will do touch-up and occasional trims for me and my child.

Robin at Professionally Yours (her room phone #910-864-7736) on Yadkin Rd close to Fort Bragg is very good, and she will only do what you ask her to do. The owner of the shop is very good too from my observation of her work, but I never personally tried her work. The shop's number is (910-867-8677). They also have a barber there if you have boys or just want a close trim.

Totally You (910-480-9000) on Murchison Rd. A good stylist there is the short light skinned girl that is in the first room on the right when you walk in the door. Sorry, I don't know her name, but a year or so back I used to go to someone (the lady that was part owner of this place) else there, and I would sit and look across at this girl's work and be so jealous of her clients, and I would want to change to her, but I didn't want to hurt my long time stylist feelings. Actually, there are several good stylist in there.

A Professional Hair Design (910-867-7500) has several very good stylist. It's on Bonanza Dr. off Yadkin Rd. behind the old Winn Dixie store. Again, I only know the name of the owner (Alfreda, but we call her Ms.Freda) because she does our touch-ups. When you enter the shop, there is a light skinned stylist on the left that has blonde hair. She does very good work. There also is the light skinned tall girl with the dreadlocks, she is very good; her chair is close to Ms. Freda. The two ladies next to her are also really good. All of these ladies have tons of clients that seem to have good relationships with them. I would suggest you go on a busy day and just look at some of their work because the majority of them work in the open main area. This shop has a nail tech, and it also sells hair products such as Nexxus, Dudley etc. You may have heard of Ms. Freda because she is the General Manager for Fort Bragg military beauty shops etc.

Prado's (910-867-5141) on McPherson Church Rd. has a stylist (Ms. Freda) there that is very good for touch-ups/trims. She does a friend of mine and her mom's hair, and they have very healthy locks.

In the past, I have gone to Giorgio's on Yadkin Rd. Ms. Goode the owner is good, but I went many years ago. I have gone to random stylists at the Fort Bragg salons, and I was not happy with the work at all.

I hope this info can help.

Thanks Tia!!! My last couple of touch-ups were at the Ft. Bragg salons...it was okay..but I want to try something different...
