What do you all think works better for a everday maintenence moisturizer-oils or cremes? I've always used cremes, but recently purchased oils. I bought the African Royale Hot Six OIls and I was looking at some others, but I want to try this one out first. it hasn't been long enough for me to tell a difference yet, so I was wondering your opinions-thanks!

i think it depends on your hair. my hair loves cremes. oils don't work very well for me and weigh my hair down. i can only use them when protective styling, but when wearing my hair down and my wash n' go's....oils don't work well. other folks have hair types that really absorb oils well and work great for them. it all depends on what they both do or how they affect your hair and styles.

I used to always use oil and I had great results with it, but since then i've bought creams and i'm getting the same results. I now only use the oils on my ends.

I mix the two. I believe they actually serve completely different purposes and that both are necessary at least SOME of the time.

I prefer an oil moisturizer for daily use (organic root stimulators olive oil) but I also use oils to seal in moisture after a rinse or shampoo/condition.

It depends.

If my hair is wet I prefer oils. On dry hair I use a cream.

I use a crea m for my braid outs and an oil for roller setting.
If my ends are dry I use a cream. To soften new growth in between shampoos, I use a cream.

Right now I am using Profective Mega Growth (yellow) as my cream and Africa's Best Herbal Oil with Ginseng as my oil. I plan on getting some essential oils but I am afraid of hurting my scalp.

For my hair, oil works better on my hair when it's wet.

I usually just stick with the S-Curl which works wonders for moisturizing my hair

Thanks for all the replies! I am starting to agree with some of you in that I think the oil works good on my damp washed hair but it looks like it makes my dry hair look to oily or maybe I am just being to heavy handed with the oil-who knows!

Sometime I mix the two like Tracey. Most of the time I use oil.

Hi Auntybe,
I totally agree and never thought about mixing the two. Thanks. I will try that

I like creams and oils. I don't like creams that are water-based though...I bought the Pantene Relaxed and Natural cream a few months ago. I didn't like the watery consistency. Plus, I had more relaxed hair then and it seemed to make my hair a tad frizzier like I'd put water on it...
