Hey Ladies,
I was looking into buying more oils. Not just the normal ones like Jojoba and EVOO but oils such as Neem, Rice bran oil, Meadowfoam, candellia (sp?), etc. So this post is for you to post your fav oils whether they are the typical ones or more unknown oils!

Right now I have:
Coconut oil (from Indian shop); haven't used it yet
Amla Oil; haven't used it yet
Jojoba oil; pretty good, kind of heavy
EVOO; good only for pre-treating too heavy for regular use
Sweet Almond Oil; pretty good
kemi oyl; i LOVE this, it just bothers me that i don't know the ingredients, for all i know it could be colored mineral oil and frangrance :/
Africa's Best Clove oil; this is pretty good, doesn't give me that extra 'ummph' that i like

I know there are a million oils posts, but they are old for the most part. So, post away!

Right now my favorite oils are:
  • EVOO- only as a pre-poo though
  • Coconut oil (unrefined)
  • Wild growth oil
  • Sulfur8 Loc Twist and Braid oil (my newest buy)- consists of Olive Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, and Sunflower Seed Oil. Sometimes I mix with my MTG. I also use this without braids.

jojoba oil heavy? maybe you were ehavy handed with it. its very very light

Does anyone remember an oil called Nile oil?

When I used to go the shop to get my hair done they suggested this oil and it was REALLY good. I know the shop I got if from I should go back there and try it again, but for now I feel like the jojoba oil is pretty good. Of course I've just started this whole hair thing so I'm just sticking w/ what I know for now cuz otherwise it would be too overwhelming.

I really don't think that's the case. I am very light handed with any product I use. My jojoba oil cames in a spray bottle and it sprays out a little too heavy for me, so I have to open the bottle to use it.
Also, it's organic, unrefined, basicly untouched. It's not the jojoba 'hair' oil, it's pure so that may be a factor.

Organic Virgin Coconut Oil- This is actually a solid oil, sort of like a light butter. It has just a hint of coconut fragrence and it doesn't weigh my hair down at all. Very nice!

Carrot Oil- This is a heavier rich, deep orange oil. I add about a teaspoon of it to my deep conditoners. It's expensive so I use it carefully.

Unrefined Hemp Seed Oil-This is a dark rich oil with an "earthy" scent. I use it to "seal" my leave in conditoners in and I also add it to my deep conditoners.

Macademia Nut Oil-Silky nut oil. I add it to deep conditoners and sometimes use it as a leave in.

Camelina Oil- I've used this as a leave in as well as mixed with deep conditoners. Very nice!

Jojoba Oil-So far I've only used this once. I added about a tablespoon of it to a deep conditoning treatment with Keraphix. My hair came out soft and silky.

I recently ordered some Mango Oil and Papaya Oil. Once I've tried them I'll give a review.
I buy my oils and butters from FromNatureWithLove.com

I have:

Coconut oil
EVOO
Avocado oil
Jojoba oil
Jamaican Black castor oil (mine smells like stale cigarettes--is it supposed to smell like that? )
Castor oil
Aloe Vera oil
Shea oil
Grapeseed oil
Wild Growth oil

I really want to try kukui nut oil and macadamia oil. That's next on my oil buying spree...

Wow! I love your descriptions! A lot of the oils you listed I want so this post is really helpful.

Thanks ladies, keep em' coming:p

Thanks for this thread. I was looking to buy some oils. Right now I mainly use EVOO and Wonder 8. I'm finding that my hair likes EVOO to seal my leave-in when I'm wearing buns. Wonder 8 is a bit lighter, so I use that when I flat iron or wear another "out" style.

I'm going to order from the Horton Company on ebay that Camellia mentioned in another thread. They have a nice variety. I specifically want to try jojoba, sweet almond, grapeseed, and hemp.

Castor oil- pre-poo/ends treatment (thick but i love it and so does my hair)
Palm oil( same consistency as coconut oil- soild below 76 degrees)-nice oil-moisturizing
Coconut oil
Pomace B olive oil- da bomb diggity- all purpose- very moisturizing
Sweet almond oil
Rosemary oil
Apricot kernel oil
Safflower oil

I'm natural and to get added moisture- i add glycerin to my oils when i oil my scalp at nite- put on a thin plastic cap- put a satin cap on top- go to sleep and i the a.m. i co-wash- softness acheived all day long.

Do you find that most oils are the same? Meaning that they are either too heavy or too light but the overall effect is the same? I have a hard time distinguishing between which oils I like and which ones are good to my hair. How do you guys distinguish?
Anyways so far on my list are. (I want to narrow them down to at the most five):
Meadowfoam oil
Neem oil
Rice Bran Oil
Castor Oil
Camillia oil
Rose hip oil
Macadamia Nut oil

I only have Castor oil right now (well there's EVOO in the kitchen lol but I don't use it on my hair right now). I like it a lot on my ends. :)
