Oiling Scalp = Shedding?

So, I've conquered my excessive breakage by sealing with castor oil (it's fantastic!), only to find that it's causing me to shed when I use it on my scalp. At least, I think it's the castor oil that's causing me to shed. Has anyone else experienced this?

It's a pity because I would swear it's speeding up my hair growth...

I have been using castor oil but not on its own as its a bit sticky on its own. When I use it I mix it with just a bit of ORS oil moisturising lotion to take that sticky business of and my hair is nice and soft in the morning. If anything my hair line has improved I think. Maybe you might have to consider how you use it?
