Does anyone have any recommendations for a good oil-free moisturizer? Today my dermatologist said that I need to cut down on the amount of oil I was putting on my hair because it was contributing to my face breaking out.
ohh that is soo true. i always use pink oil moisturizing lotion when i blowdry my hair. it's the best and i have tried soo many different ones. i even tried some blowdrying stuff from sebastian laminates but it didn't give my hair the moisture or oil it needs. i would love to use the pink oil all the time, even when i'm not blowdrying but i can't because of my face.
so why don't you just use spray leave in's? for example what you can do is purchase a spray bottle. then you put some distilled water in it and add a creamy leave in. i do that with the herbal essences leave in and it works pretty well. or in the am you can just wet your hair a little bit and then put the creamy leave in in your hair. that's what i do and my face got a lot better. i also cut down on my lust serum.
another thing you should consider when having breakouts is your pillowcase. i never thought about it until i read that advice on an acne web site. the pillow case collects dirt whenever you lay your head on it. especially the oils/products you have in your hair and the dirt that sit in your (and everybody's) hair will rub off on the pillow. so i put a big t shirt over my pillow. and every night i turn it around. so one t shirt lasts four nights.
i'm sorry for writing so much, but i hope this will work for you as well as it did for me.
nay
When my hair was relaxed I really liked ORS Carrot Oil Cream. It isn't greasy at all. If you like lotion moisturizers check out All Ways Oil Moisturizer, Beauty Without Cruelty Revitalize Leave-In Conditioner (kokogm.com/Products/bw-45468.html), Salerm 21 con Proteinas de Seda (metrobeauty.com), Elasta QP Recovery and Biosysthesis PHinish (myhealthyhair.com/yourhealthyhair.htm).

I would have never thought of this. I'm going to try it with some of the stuff I already have.

This is a really good idea. I'm definitely going to try this out tonight.

Right now, I'm using ORS's Olive Oil Moisturizer. It is really thick, but it isn't heavy or greasy at all to me. I love the scent.

Karonica I absolutely love this stuff but I think it has too much oil in it.

Thanks Sassygirl. I'll have to check into those recommendations.
Not oil-free, but not "oily" either: Cathy Howse's Ultra Black Hair Lotion Creme Moisturizer. It's totally non-greasy and leaves my hair feeling silky soft and moisturized. I've had no problems with my face breaking out as a result of the product, though I do like to keep my hair off of my face in all circumstances.

I also use this and love it. It does have oil but it is not greasy.
I agree with whoever pointed out the pillow case thing. I change my pillowcase every 3 days. Pillowcase that have oil from your hair will definitely make you break out more.
Let me add that the type of oil in the moisturizer might make a difference. For example, my face breaks out with products like Moisture Max or Luster's because petroleum and mineral oil clogs my pores. I can, however, slather my hair with coconut oil or shea butter and never have a problem with breakouts. So, maybe you just need to change brands. Just a thought!
i was having the same problem..and yes it was the oil on my pillow that was making my face break out..and now i do the t-shirt thing with the pillows...but then the cotton started making me break out to..so instead of a t-shirt i just use a silk slip..and wash it every 2 days...problem solved
