I feel so honored to be an American today.

My paternal grandmother was required to write her name in cursive in order to vote.

Despite severe arthritis, she would write her name hundreds of times, so that when the election day came, she could make her signature clear and true.

I have cried tonight as I've never cried before. Pray for strength and health for our new First Family, for the road will be bumpy.

I never thought I'd see a black president in MY lifetime (I'm only 23 )

It's not only because he's black, he IS the best candidate imo. Even though for a republican, Mccain isn't so bad and he has my respect.

It's wonderful.

Just to look up and see this man (who is the SPITTING image of one of my cousins) be the president of MY country... it just means more to me than I can express at this time.

Wow!!!! When I look back to what we have contributed to this country. Our hands built this country, especially economically. We are born leaders and trend setters. Jazz, hip-hop, gospel, civil rights, clothing designers, you name it we have accomplished it. But this is absoulety amazing.
