Does anyone have any tips on how to restore your hair's texture and body etc. after using a bad conditioner?

I used DE Stimulations 2 weeks in a row and now I can't get it out of my hair, it seems. I've washed it several times with different clarifying shampoos.

It still feels like I washed my hair in glue? Does any one know what's going on? And more importantly, how to FIX it???? It's causing a lot of breakage.... /images/graemlins/nono.gif

Tracy, is it possible that the clarifying shampoos are removing too much moisture? My hair doesn't react well to clarifying shampoos; it becomes stiff, tangles a lot and feels very strange.

I would try using a gently, conditioning shampoo, followed up with a serious deep, moisturizing conditioner. I'm sure some of the experts here will be able to add to my suggestion.

Tracy,

After your clarifying, what type of moisturizing conditioner did you use? Maybe you can try adding some oil to it for some extra umph.

After my Redken Heavy Glue... erm... Cream experience, I saturated my hair with oil and a moisturizing conditioner and slept in it. My scalp was itchy, but my hair felt a lot better. I remember slathering on a moisturizer that had been "too greasy" in the past. IIRC, I used African Royale M.O.M. Within a few days, my hair was back to normal.

cosigning on what sassy said but try clarifying, then hot oil, then poo w/THERAPPE followed by humectress w/heat. might help!! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

to remove build-up, you need a acid-based shampoo..not really sure where you could get that.

I'd try a vinegar rinse (1 tbsp of vinegar to 1 cup of water ratio)...it should cut the product without drying your hair.

I put my shampoo on and then pour that on and massage it in and rinse and then condition. Works like a charm for removing build-up.

ITA, a good moisturizing conditioner may work. Did you try your Loreal Feria's Moisturizing conditioner. I love this stuff.

Hi guys...

Just wanted to give an update and say thank you for the replies. I was able to get the stuff out of my hair when I went to NY this weekend. I went to a Dom. salon and told them what was up, and she felt my hair and instantly knew what I meant. It just felt like I coated my hair in wax or something. /images/graemlins/barf.gif

Incidentally (and this is why I posted, so that if this happens to someone else it's out there...), she used a modified version of everyone's remedy put together. /images/graemlins/wink.gif You ladies are smart! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

She wet my hair completely, and allowed the water to run through it for a few seconds longer than normal. Before she started, she prepared a gallon sized container of vinegar diluted in water. She rinsed my hair with it before and after each one of the three times she shampoo-ed me. She deep conditioned with an Olive Oil infused (she added extra oil) Dom. Conditioner (she said it was aloe) and sat me under a dryer for 10 minutes. My hair was back to new in no time.... /images/graemlins/smile.gif

glad to hear you got that stuff out!! my goodness it was that bad huh!? seemed like it was in your hair for a while!?

Tracy Im glad to hear your hair is back to normal. That has happened to me many a times and I could never remedy it /images/graemlins/confused.gif in spite of all the clarifying.

She sounds like a good hair dresser. You are lucky /images/graemlins/smile.gif
If my hair feels like that again I guess I will try that vinegar solution trick. Do u know about how much vinegar she added to a gallon of water?

Glad to hear all is back to normal. I have to remember the ACV (God forbid there's ever a need for it again /images/graemlins/laugh.gif )

I bet it was like a breath of fresh air to get back to the Dom. salon. Glad it worked out for you.
