And when I say "BAD" I mean hair that is in bad condtion.

And then proceding to prescribe to stuff in your head?
Not to judge the ppl but just like: "All she (he) needs to do is do a DC 2x a week and clip those ends."

LOL....I can't help it, being and LHCFer has changed my perspective soooo much that I see things like that....

Anyone else?

YES!!! It's really bad.

I actually man-handled my cousin last weekend into better looking-hair. I clipped these crazy relaxed ends she had on just the front section of her hair the rest of her hair is just thick, gorgeous, short, and unprocessed--but DRY. (I mean, it was this weird 2-inch patch of relaxed ends that was longer than the rest of her hair!!!! It looked silly, especially when she called herself trying to slick it down.:lol: I just evened it out.)

Well, I introduced her to the joys of S-Curl. It worked WONDERS on her hair. I was even surprised how well her hair took to it!!!! Her hair hadn't looked so good in a very, very long time. This weekend, she's getting a deep conditioning!

But I defintely find myself dishing advice about hair care.

All the time. Like someone said a few weeks ago, we should have cards that we can just give to people. How about flyers we can litter our metro/subway stations with.

Most of the hair I zoom in on belongs to teens. Balding edges that you can tell aren't genetic, gobs of gel, dirty, stinking hair, horrid weaves that need to be taken out (5 months ago), little snatch-back pony-nots. All of that makes me cringe, but then I just move it out of my mind and start thanking God I have a healthy head of hair and that I have foind sites like that to help me keep it on my head.

i have this reeeeeeal bad. Real bad.

I don't even see people anymore before I see their hair. Now that is bad.:look: :lachen:

Don't I know it!

This should be up in the confessional thread....lol

Yes I can't help it. I see a lot of bad heads especially my co worker with dry hair and same old style. I have been working with her for two years and her hair isn't changing so I have to look at it everyday.

I try and talk to the women on my job but they be iggin me....they'll take notice when I walk in there swingin my bsl hair....ohhh I can't wait!! :eyebrows2

I think I notice both bad and good haircare. The good ones I actually ask if they are on LHCF and they look at me like I'm crazy like huh? Then the bad ones I try to make suggestions but you know how some people are sensitive about their hair so I try to be very subtle.

I've raged to everyone about cowashes, ends care, airdrying etc now my friends think I'm obsessed but shoot if I have healthy hair I want everyone to have the same!!!! I love to see healthy hair so if I can give my two cents here and there I certainly will!!!!

I find myself doing this often. As soon as I enter a room, I'm scanning, its not even a conscious habit....I just find myself thinking...."let them braids go", "ooohhh healthy hair", "ummmm wtf". I wish I could hand out cards but that might be perceived as rude.

This is too funny because I was thinking about this the other day. Not only did I have to tell myself yesterday to stop talking to people about hair unless they bring it up, but I've noticed myself really examining people's hair. This student was sitting next to me and I was thinking about how she should get some surge and oil into her edges because they were so thin. This hair quest has definitely turned into a hobby for me...

Yall I have it bad!

I was zoning in in CHURCH thinking "sista brown shole can retain a lot of moisture if she stopped using all that grease!"

I do too. Everybody keeps telling me to go to cosmetology school in the night program, but I just don't have time with my course load. There's enough knowledge here to open a LHCF beauty school. I have helped a couple people with things I've learned here, especially vitamins, protein conditioners, and Surge.

HOLLLLLLLLD UP, yall think you have it bad. I have it the WORSETEST. And oh boy, if I went to a historically black college..it would be even worsetest-est! I am constantly looking at females with stringy thin hair who strut around thinking their neck-long hair is the best thing to ever hit the planet. Its astonishing the lack of hair care knowledge that still exists. At this point in time, I am wigging it and doing a constant baggie when I remember..hehe..otherwise I wrap it up. I have noticed alot of females take pride in not using extensions at my school which is cool..but if your is not healthy...what do they take pride in? I guess the moral of story is: no shame in the weave game as long as you keeping the real stuff healthy/otherwise, strut your healthy head!

xoxo me!!

P.S. this is one of the best posts ever!

yes, all the time. i find myself shaking my head and thinking she is clueless, like i have this big hair care secret that she doesn't know.

yes i do this all the time now! and i am still pretty much a newbie. but i have learn tons of valuable information and learn a little bit more everyday. i try to help my family members, but you all know how that goes they won't ask for your help until they see your hair all thick, long and healthy and then everyone wants to know your secret, when you tried to tell them all along!:ohwell: anyway, i just keep to myself and try not to impose my thoughts and opinions too much, so that i don't seem like i am the utmost authority on the subject of hair, and let people come up with their own remedies no matter how wrong they might be!:(

I do, but an experience I had about a year ago taught me not to judge folks.

My mom and I used to go to the same hairdresser for awhile. It was in a strip mall next to a dollar store, and there was a woman who worked in the dollar store who had hair that was maybe was ear-length, very dry and brittle-looking and thin at the ends. We would always see her pass back and forth in front of the shop and peek in, and my hairdresser used to crack on her hair. Well, one day, the woman came in and quietly asked if there was a barber in the shop. My hairdresser said no, but told her that her son cuts hair, thinking that the woman had a son. The woman then asked to speak to my hairdresser privately. They talked for a little while, and when my hairdresser came back, she had tears in her eyes. Apparently, the woman had a daughter with nephritis, was out of work and broke. She told my hairdresser that she knew her hair looked a mess, but she didn't have money to get it treated, but that she did have the cash to have a barber just shave it off. My hairdresser told the woman to come back later and she'd do her hair that day, and every two weeks after that, gratis.

So, yeah, when I see jacked edges, I go there for a moment, but then I just thank god that I am healthy, employed and lucky enough to be able to afford good haircare.

Amen sista! wow that story is touching. Yea i try not to judge. but i will say that i do take 'notice' when i'm at work or at the mall or anywhere. I never have told anyone other than my 2 sisters and my mom, about how to take care of their hair. And i don't think i will, unless someone asks me, because i think it's totally rude just to come out and say 'look this is what u need for YOUR...blah blah blah...

Wow what a touching story

OMG, me TOO!

I pay much more atttention to women's hair now days. :yep: When I'm walking on campus, and I see a very NICE head full of thick healthy looking hair on a black young woman, I immediately do a double take and admire it. :D

It's gotten to the point now where if I'm not careful, people may start thinking I'm a lesbian or something because I'm looking at their hair so much! LOL, I don't mean to stare, but when the hair looks good, it makes me want to aspire to have hair like theirs.

Yes! I am guilty! I wan to grab these women and shake them and say "STOP THE MADNESS!" I think to myself, there is such an easy remedy to your issue. I especially can't stand to see women with long "straggly" ends in the name of length. Or broken off greasey pieces of hair hanging on to a dream. It's so frustrating too!

You want to just do a "CUT-BY"!

You wanna run by them with cutting shears freeing them of this craziness as you pass them by!

In the words of In Vogue:
Free your minds and your hair will follow!
