Not Washing/CoWashing For 2 Weeks...Anybody?

I would like to try this too! I know sylver2 had a regimen similar to this and her hair thrived from it.
I'm thinking about just washing, airdrying and either flat-ironing or blow-drying to stretch my new-growth...then just moisturizing and sealing daily or every other day for 2 weeks.
I usually wash once a week....so this will be a little different for me but I think it will be good for my hair too.

It's been 6 days. Normally, this is the longest I would go, but that is only because hair is my hobby. It actually feels fine...still no itchies. I put some Hydratherma Naturals growth oil on my scalp out of boredom...

When I was relaxed I washed once every two weeks. I only used heat on wash days so it helped me to space out how much I used heat.

Now that my hair is in a different state I wash every one to two weeks still. I have found that the only time I feel the need to wash more often is in the summer because I sweat at the sight of the summer sun.

If I had continued to use gels or if I applied product directly to my scalp I would probably wash more often. I try to sniff my hair every few days to make sure it smells ok. If it smells like funk I will co wash it but I will not clarify with shampoo more than once a month regardless of the ingredients.

1 week and hair is still in a nice smooth plait twisted in a bun:look:. I know I can last until Saturday, but until next Wed to make it 2 weeks:drunk:. We will see if I don't get the itches. But I am enjoying giving my hair this break.

Glad it's going well for you! :)

I don't have much experience with dry shampoo, but I wonder if that would help with your scalp and itching? I've only tried one brand (Suave, which I only use when my hair is flat ironed in hopes of extending out my wash day) and it seems to help keep my scalp from begging for a wash so soon.

But like Brighteyes35 I used to hardly wash my hair and it was long and thick (even with me relaxing all of my hair with each relaxer). My problem was just my ends being sad looking from the dryness. I'm trying to work with my products in a way where I can wash less too. I'm busy with school and it's getting cold out so the only days I'm really home all day are the weekends. I can't be going out with freshly washed hair even if dry, I'll get sick.

I wish I could go 2 weeks between washing :( but my scalp just gets too itchy. I'll be keeping my eye on this thread though, for tips.

It all depends on your scalp. Mine will allow me to go 2 weeks max w/o washing as long as I avoid putting anything on my scalp. Any longer than that, and I get the itchies, and these tiny painful white pumps in random places :nono:

Try it and pay attention to your scalp. It will tell you when it's time to wash.

I try to do this during the winter when I wear my hair straight.
One week straight and down, next week in a bun.
I also prefer this routine when in weaves...cause I'm lazy and it's time consuming to get under the tracks and style and la-di-da.

Hi Ladies! I'm so happy that all of you are chiming in on this. So far today, I have just a little itch. All I have done this week is spritz one night with Chi Keratin Mist and last night with water and I can't remember what else was mixed in that bottle. I mixed that when I wore a braid out sometimes last month. I have been putting Jane Carter Nourish and Shine around my edges followed by a little oil. I wear a soft scrunchie during the day around my plait and remove it when i get home leaving my plait tucked under. Oh, and I do moisturize the last 4 inches on the plait. My hair is nice and slick and looks really neat since I'm just coming up on 3 weeks post. I need sylver2 to chime in, because I think I do remember her doing her hair every 2 weeks. She has beautiful hair. My plan as of now is to skip my normal Sat wash again and push for my 2 wks which will be Wednesday. So far so good!
