Not Getting Married In A Church, How To Choose Officiant?

For those of you that didn't get married in a church, how did you choose your officiant? Did your venue recommend someone? Did you just choose randomly from wedding review sites?

All this time I have been thinking that FH wanted his pastor to marry us and that he would ask him but now he is saying that he doesn't care who does it. He may still ask but I need backups in case he isn't available.

How did you find yours?

My husband found ours on a wedding review site (Wedding Wire, IIRC). Her office, very conveniently, was about five minutes away. She was a JOP. We could have gone through our venue, but it was an extra $500, I believe. We paid her $175 - my only issue with that price was she didn't tell us in our initial emails that we had to pay for the office visit, but we still saved money.
