To me grease are products where petrolatum or mineral oil is one of the first 3 ingredients on the list. I don't use any of them except for vaseline on my lips.
I use glycerine and jojoba oil mixed to moisturize my hair. I usually combine it with my leave in conditioner in the mornings and then at night after I've sprayed my hair with distilled water. Glycerine and oil is an awesome moisturizing combo. Hair is shiny, soft and pliant. Just find which proportions work best for for u.
I use "grease" only on the last 1"-2" of my hair. For the rest of my hair I like liquid-y blends like Proclaim Natural 7 and Carolyn Gray's HHIB. I also like avocado oil.
I prefer adding my oils to my leave-in conditioner. I don't put anything directly on my scalp.
I don't use grease either and haven't in a very long time. I primarily use leave-in conditioner, Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter, and ORS Carrot Oil. Oh, but I do use Proclaim Coconut Oil to seal my ends sometimes.
I haven't used grease in about 5 years. I'm one who grew up "greasing my scalp" all the way into my mid twenties. I've been pretty much mineral oil/petrolatum-free since then. Since that time, I have used a little bit of oil after a wash/set only. The rest of the week nothing. My hair has been its healthiest during that time. I'm thinking the weekly washings (as opposed to two weeks) might have a little to do with that as well.
But more recently I have modified my regimen . . . with new knowledge comes a new routine. I've read that I should be moisturizing my hair daily . . . so that, for me, entails using a product with water and oil each day. Basically, I'm spritzing with a light water-based product and following up with a serum that contains a touch of oil. Feel good, looks good . . . here's hoping it is good for my hair.
After I wash, I just put in a Leave in conditioner and some oil -- then during the week, maybe twice maybe once, I put a lil hair scalp oil in. I only use the grease I have now to coat my hair when I get a perm
No grease. No oil. No leave in. My scalp is oily enough. I don't use anything on my hair because I wash it so often. I slick my hair back with Jam though and that leaves it nice and slimy. Is Jam a grease or a gel?
I was a faithful user of hair grease until a year ago.
I now only use profectiv products on my hair after washing.
Since I stopped using grease my scalp does not flake like
it use too.
I use profectiv root health and healthy ends.
I may occasionally use alway's isogro hairddress after a
relaxer to soothe my scalp it has menthol in it.
I used grease up until finding LHCF. I now use liquid jojoba oil, and the difference is like night and day. Jojoba oil leaves my hair moisturized and lightly oiled. It doesn't weigh my hair down, which is my main concern.
I don't use store-bought grease b/c most of them have some form of petroleum in them. However, I do use oil if that's what you mean. I "grease" my scalp with oil/honey before I shampoo and condition each week, and I use Wild Growth Oil very sparingly throughout the week.
I guess this would be considered "grease" - I use Constant Care for Ends and Aveda Anti-Humectant. Both work very well on my hair. I use them after my leave-in.
Hey,
I use WGO on my scalp and my daughter if it gets a little tender. I never wanted to use grease in my daughters hair so the oil helps from keeping her to be so tenderheaded. Lubricated I guess. She is long, natural and THICK. I'm relaxed and thick.
I mostly use jojoba oil (sometimes mixed with castor and olive oil.) If a part of my scalp is itchy, I'll put a dab of Sulfur 8 on it (the light formula).
