No progress in 3 months!! Where are my scissors?

I am so frustrated with my hair. I've been here since August and I have seen very little to no progress! i'm doing everything I think I should be doing to retain length(protective styles, dc'in, protein treatments, sealing the ends, etc.) but it's just not working. Actually lately it seems as though it's been breaking worse. I've been doing low manipulation styles and on wash days the hair won't stop coming. I would love to say it just long hairs with the bulbs but I see little broken ones too.
I haven't had a trim since June so I was thinking maybe that's the culprit. I do the search and destroy method but, I keep getting split ends. I've been thinking about trying henna. What do you ladies think?

How often are you doing protein treatments? Are you following up with a moisturizing conditioner? Can you name what you are using? What are you using as a daily moisturizer? How does your hair feel when wet? Please hold off on the henna til other ladies chime in, that's also a source of protein.

Lady perhaps your hair is in it resting phase but it seems like you lack moisture too!

Crimson,

If you are not already trying the following maybe you should try the following vits for faster growth:

Biotin
L-Cystein

For stronger hair...try incorporating some MSM into your diet:

MSM

I was having similar issues and the henna stopped it in its tracks. I also started using Vatika oil and it is really making my hair so much better. It is supposed to strengthen the root, prevent falling of the hair, add shine and softness, and accelerate growth.....all that in one oil! Im going to buy a lifetime supply next time I go to the indian store!

The henna made it stronger, shinier, and fuller, and it gave me color. I noticed the dramatic decrease in shedding/breakage when combing immediately after I did the henna. It might be what u need too! Its funny that the two things I have been reluctant to try (henna and indian oils) are the two best things Ive done for my hair in a long while!

Oh no...your hair is so beautiful; I've been admiring it. I agree with wheezy807...It sounds like you need more moisture. I would lay off the protein and deep condition with a very moisturizing deep conditioner.

ETA: I hope your hair improves soon.

Thanks for your input ladies!! Lately I've been washing 1x a week with Optimum anti- breakage defense, then i condition, then deep conditon(l'oreals nature's therapy mega moisture) with heat or use aveda dr treatment( i alternate each wk) and then deep condition with heat. I apply a creamy leave- in and seal with evoo. i smooth it back with my hands put it in a low pony wrap it up and let it air dry till morning. I usually sport a bun or pony, unless it's a special occasion. To keep up my moisture levels I use NTM silk or Aveda USC when it's up and Phyto 9 when it's down. So I need more moisture?

Oh and I take Ultra Hair Nourish vits everynight and it includes MSM. I may have to try that vatika oil LeslieC. I think henna may be calling my name...

I don't know to many members that use that particular deep conditioner.

Maybe tried one of these DC listed below.

Keracare Humecto

Nexxus Humectress

Elucence

Creme of Nature

Giovanni Direct

Sounds like you are using enough moisture-related products. Ummm...have you clarified lately? Maybe the products are not able to work like they should.

Same thing I thought so I clarified with ORS creamy aloe shampoo and Nexxus Aloe Rid (not at the same time of course).

Sounds like your hair was fine before you got here... maybe youre doing TOO MUCH? :perplexedall that protective styles and protein treatments and sealing is not absolutely necessary, and low manipulation styles and everything... Some people dont need ALL of it. And from the look of your avatar your hair looks just fine. You werent bald when you got here, and Im sure you weren't neck length or something... You could be one of those folks who wanted longer hair, joined the site, and probably doing everything you see on here only to find out youre doing stuff you dont even need. Trying henna would be just adding to the list...

It might be the anti-breakage defense if you are washing with that every week. I find I can't use those shampoos even once, because my hair becomes more brittle. For me I have to only use a moisturizing shampoo and when I need protein, I use a deep conditioning protein conditioner, like Fakkai's Shea Butter Hair Mask.

Your hair is beautiful. You'll find a solution. Stay encouraged. I slight trim might help too.

Well, that's the problem. It looks nice but it's not growing. I've pretty much been this length for the last couple of years. Is beautiful full BSL too much to ask for? I can just taste it:lick:...but you may have a point. Maybe i'm watching my hair too closely, i might try to take a backseat for awhile, but that will be so hard.
