I just switched to a no lye relaxer and my hair hates my usual products so I think I need some new staples now and I don't know what to get.

There have been some posts recently about ceramides. I have been using them unknowlingly and have seen some good results. It strengthens the hair and keeps the cuticle smooth.

ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo - I feel that this is ESPECIALLY important to hair relaxed with no lye to remove calcium deposits that the calcium hydroxide leaves inside your hair. If you don't use a chelating neutralizing shampoo, get one quick! I also use it monthly for clarifying/chelating.

NTM shampoo - Gets the hair clean enough without stripping it at all and softening it. Very gentle.

Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner - Leaves my hair buttery soft.

Good ole Creme of Nature shampoo (red label) and Cholesterol (the carrot oil one). I use that for washing for three weeks, on that fourth week I clarify with Suave.:yep:

which ones do you use?

I've been using silicon mix and now just started using nexxus humectress knockoff. Wheat Germ oil has natural ceramides and I've been using hot six oil, and some aphogee pro-vitamin leave in which also has wheat germ in it. My hair was breaking so badly I was ready to chop it off, but now the breakage has almost stopped now I just see normal shed hairs in my comb.

I have ORS Creamy Aloe and Redken Cheatling shampoo so I guess thats a start.

How often should I use the ORS?

I have silicon mix too. It always seems to leave my hair soft but dry.Is is possible to get a ceramide overload?

My staple conditioner is Giovanni Direct Tea Tree Triple Treat Conditioner (which I also use as a DC base) and Giovanni Direct Golden Wheat Shampoo (I only use the shampoo whenever my hair is feeling grimy or has product build-up). I like this Giovanni conditioner because it's super moisturizing, detangles my hair great in the shower (I'm almost 3 months post relaxer and that's important :drunk:), and gives a great tingling feeling when it's your head. I like the shampoo because it's sulfate-free and doesn't leave my hair feeling stripped. I like Giovanni products a lot because they are organic and contain very good ingredients.

I use no lye relaxers. I use shikakai shampoo bar/shikakai & amla rinses. When I feel the need to use regular shampoo (not every often) I'll use Aveda Dry Remedy. My favorite conditioners are Miss Keys 10 en 1 and Una Bomba.

I co-wash a lot using vo5 moisture milks but I haven't lately because I'm mega-teking.

Shampoo- Giovanni Smooth as Silk, Joico Kpak

I used the Giovanni smooth as silk conditioner yesterday for the first and was surprised at how moisturizing and detangling it was. I am 8 wks post relaxer. I think this one will be a keeper.

ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo-Once a month, extremely moisturizing, non-stripping, but clarifying/chelating

CON Ultra Moisturizing Kiwi Citrus (New green label)-Very Moisturinzing, not stripping at all

ORS Replenishing Conditioner-Bottle form of the paks, the end all be all of moisturizing conditioner with the added plus of a little protein, can't beat this conditioner

Shampoos
ORS Creamy Aloe
NTM Moisture Cream Lather
Elucence Moisture Benefits

Conditioners
ORS Replenishing Pak
Elucence Moisture Balancing
Nacidit Coconut Oil/Nacidit Avocado

It kinda catches you off guard don't it  I was the same way. Very pleasantly surprised. I tried it after FoxieRoxie raved about it and have been loving it ever since. One of the few products that works well 1 week post to 12 weeks post.

I've tried and have alot of stuff but my tried and true, go to products always come back to:

Creme of Nature shampoo (any of the old formulas)

ORS replenishing pak conditioner. I've been using the bottle but for some reason I think I like the pak better. When I finish my bottle I'm going back to the paks.

I LOVE Silicon Mix! It smells so good, but I hate stuff I have to order and can't just go buy, so I'm over it now.

When I relax: ORS Olive Oil Neutralizing Shampoo

for regular wash days I alternate between:
Silicon Mix
NTM Cream Lather
Keracare Dry & Itchy Scalp Moisturizing Shampoo

I use the conditoner for of every line of the shampoo I use, a lot of times I mix the Silicon Mix Conditioner with the Super Conditioner 10 en 1 as my DC.

I use CON (green lable) shampoo and Nacidit Olive Oil conditioner now. I deep conditon with Kenra MC. My hair is much more moisturized than it was before I started using these conditoners.
