Has anyone done this, or at least from lye to no-lye, what were your results, did you experience a difference in texture or manageability?

If I were to be dead honest, I cant even tell the difference in Lye vs No Lye. The relaxer before last my stylist used no lye after I had been using lye for the past 2 years. I really could not tell much of a difference.

The reason why I am sticking with Lye is because of what the ladies say no-lye can do to your hair like: Make it feel Dry, Leave calcium deposits causing it to be dull, etc.

I have also heard that it is not good to switch back and forth with relaxers.

Good Luck

I did that and lost all my hair BUT that is because the stylist overlapped. I think if you don't overlap you shouldn't have a problem.

Well, I was going to wait about a week to respond to see how my hair holds up but I can tell you about my initial experience. I used D&L no lye last night. I didn't really realize how much underprocessed my hair was. I love how the no lye made my hair straight, as for the brand, I don't think I'll use that one again. They have changed there formula since I have last used it. When my roller set dried, my roots were actually straight. I was doing the happy dance in my living room. :yay: :woot: DH thought I had lost my mind.

Anyhoo, I will post again within about a week to see how my hair is doing. I lost the same amount of hair like usual during my relaxing, but other than that. I had a terrific experience. Oh, I did overlap the no lye onto the lye. :spank: I had no other choice, I had to do a corrective treatment. Pictures coming soon.

I've never had any problems doing this, even when doing corrective relaxers, but I was careful not to overdo it.

I've done it, no problems.

Thanks everyone, I can no longer deal with how underprocessed the lye is making my hair. Wish me luck...

I'm going back to Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil, it was the best I ever had.

The only difference with using lye vs. no-lye for me is that the no-lye doesn't straighten my hair the way I like it. I remember getting a no-lye relaxer and a couple of weeks later...I thought for sure I had all of this new growth and come to find out...it was only wavy because it wasn't bone straight to begin with...

No lye does seem to make the hair more dull looking - almost damaged looking in my opinion if used over a long period of time. Then again it could be the way the person cares for their hair while using a no-lye relaxer.
