After months of debating with myself, I finally took the plunge.
December 11th I did my first ever relaxer on my hair. I think I was foolish doing it myself, given I've never had it done before and it was harder than I thought it would be, but it turned out OK. I did a ton of research, stalked all of the relaxer threads, watched YT videos and made sure I was safe. My hair is actually between a texturizer and texlaxed with a ton of texture left over.
I did a touch up last week because the new growth was too much for me to handle. I will try to stretch longer next time.
I have less tangles and breakage than when I was natural. I trimmed my hair since my ends were pretty bad pre relaxer so I'm pretty much starting over. My hair now likes sulfates and 'cones to a certain extent when it didn't before. I still pretty much wear my hair in stretched styles (no heat) but it's much easier and faster.
I used ORS Cream Relaxer (despite the so-so reviews here) the first time around and it barely made a dent in my hair. I didn't want to do a corrective. My hair is much resistant than I imagined. This last time I used Silk Elements Olive Oil using the 1/2 and 1/2 method and it made a huge difference. My NG is actually straighter than the rest of my hair but I'm OK with it. I just need to make sure I care for my ends much better given the difference.
I did do a patch text the first time but I did it on an area that was naturally looser in texture; I use have used it on a 4a section.
I used to henna my hair but haven't done it since late spring. While rinsing the virgin relaxer the water was very pink - I wonder if that was the henna coming out?

I don't take the best hair photos but I will try to take some better ones later. My hair is dry with a leave-in in the last photo. My hair is damp in the previous photos.

. Your hair came out beautiful!! Amazing job
!!!
. Were you going for texlaxed or did you plan to go straighter? How long did you leave the Silk Elements relaxer on? I'll add it to my possible touch up list because my hair is so resistant
I may have thanked a thread or two and complemented someone but I was pretty much under the radar!
