i'm so happy. i just got my relaxer yesterday and my stylist didn't trim my hair!!! i haven't needed a trim in 3 months now!!! i think i know the secret for me to keep healthy hair- put no heat on hair. when i used to strighten my hair my hair broke off, or my ends spilt. now that i don't use heat i have no more breakage or spilt ends. has anyone eles stoped using heat?

Congrats! I have also stopped using heat. My stylist gives me deep conditioners followed by a rollerset. She is on me a lot about using heat. When I wash at home, I air dry. My hair is so bouncy! My ends look pretty good too. I remember, I used to always blow dry, flat iron and curl...I have noticed a big difference!

Wow! Is your hair thin? Mine is sorta thin.

Do you use any type of protectant when using heat?

I have gotten so good at not using heat...I may use heat once a month. I always thought that air drying would make my hair look thick (I like bone straight hair) I'm really pleased with the results.

I wish I could stop using heat on my hair. It's such a hard habit to break. I have cut it down to only 2-3 times a week, so I'm making some progress.

My thing is I have to blow-dry my hair because if I air-dry, my hair will look like a poodle-ly frizzy mess

I've been heat-free since June and my hair has been thanking me ever since. My ends look much better and aren't so frizzy/fried looking. No more heat for me!

When you say you're not using heat, does that also mean a hairdryer for rollersets? I have been on this hair journey of mine for about 18 months now and it's been a learning process. I really was convinced that twice a month blowdrying andd curling iron wasn't bad. I'm convinced otherwise now. It's amazing how bad that stuff is for your hair. I am defienitely gonna stop using both so I can finally start reaping the rewards of my hard work. Thanks for posting

I agree with everyone. No heat is what greatly contributed to my growing and actually seeing length for the first time in life. When I use to get it pressed after a couple months my hair would be split and break off badly. Now even if my hair breaks it is not as severe as when i used heat.
