I have fine-textured, relaxed hair.

I dont comb or brush during the week. I wear a bun every day..... in the evening, i take my hair out of the bun and "shake it out" in order to apply my topical growth aid (MTG) and moisturize the ends. Then I rebun and sleep with shower cap/satin bonnet. On the rare occasions that i wear my hair out.... i finger comb if anything.

The only time i comb is on wash day (Friday), and that is with tons of conditioner! Cant really say if there is extra shedding in the wash bowl.... I would imagine so. But i prefer not to turn around and look (lol).

Ive retained so much length this way! Although your hair is naturally going to shed, i do think this has decreased any excess breakage.

I use a wide tooth comb to style 2 twice a week I'd say. I don't comb every day but I do use a soft brush to place my edges lets say, after undoing a wrap.

I have tried not combing but I get tangles at the ends...more lately than b4. Also, I have no choice but to see the hair in the shower, I have to pick it up when I am done washing.

I feel like it is shedding but it seems like alot.....

Does your hair tangle in the shower???

Ditto except I wash twice a week. I detangle with my leave-in in.

I can not give up my comb and brush yet. I make sure I use a boar bristle brush and I use my shower comb or a wide tooth natural comb. I dont use those plastic cheap combs in my hair anymore.

I dont comb my hair a lot. I would say I comb it every through it all 3 days or so. Other than that, I moisturize and pull it back in my bun.

I am relaxed and I don't use brushes unless I'm about to wrap my hair...but I do use combs on wash days only(which is once or maybe twice a week)...other times I would just use my fingers to style.

I use a brush for the front. I guess that is why my bangs refuse to grow out... that and 'cause I am always playing with them. :ohwell:

I comb with a seamless wide tooth during wash days.

I haven't used a brush in - years. I haven't used a brush since my last perm, in fact - which was in 97....though, I have been thinking about getting a brush lately - just to insure that I'm getting all of the shed hairs off of my head.
I comb my hair once a week, right after I deep condition it. But then, I wear twists during the week, so really, that's the only chance I have to comb my hair. At the length I'm at now, leaving my hair out is a certain recipe for tangles and knots on SOOO many different levels.

when i dont straighten my hair i dont comb it besides in the shower with a wide tooth and conditioner. once every week-2weeks.

i do brush my hair dry only the edges so they will lie right if i have a bun. ext in.

when i straighten my hair i comb it once a day and brush it 2wice a day. my man personally likes my hair natural better only because i shed alot less... BUT thats only if i clean out the shower after i wash...

i think my hair sheds alot tho, could be because i just started taking care of it but ill see

I don't comb or brush. The only time I comb is sometimes in the shower w/conditioner in to detangle. Most times I just finger comb in the shower. I wash every other day or two days on one day off. I have nearly no hairs in my shower.

Who is doing this?
ME! :D I have found that I cannot go without combing my hair. I just recently started brushing my hair. Brushing really makes my hair smooth and detangles really well! I use a Goody Ouchless Brush which isn't harsh on my hair.

For how many days/weeks?
Anywhere from 1-5 times a week.

How do you wear your hair? natural, relaxed, tex?
Natural baby! :antlers:

When are you detangling?
1-5 times a week. But I do a full blow detangle after washing my hair and having LeKair Cholesterol Plus in my hair. I wash once every 2 weeks.

Most of the time, I see hair no matter what I do but not a whole lot. I think it's inevitable. But there are times when I do not see hair at all, that's when I'm extra careful with my hair. Plus, I always have more hair each month than the month before, so I'm happy as long as I'm retaining most of my length. ;)

I only comb on wash days. I never brush.

I detangle all through out the wash day: The first rinse before the poo, after I poo, after I wash out the conditioner, and after applying WGO and Giov. Direct. :look:

I have tons of hair coming out on wash day. And the longer my hair gets, the worse it looks, but I don't worry. :)

ETA: Oh I wash 1x a week and I'm relaxed.

I only comb my hair when I wash it (2-3 times a week) and finger comb in between wash days. I only lose shedded hairs when I comb/detangle my hair, which isnt much. As far as brushing, I brush my edges and nape when I'm wearing updo styles, just so my hair will look nice and decent instead of a H.A.M.!

First I was going to say I comb every time I wash, but in reality I don't. I turn the shower pressure up and let it detangle with conditioner more often than actual combing. I mostly wash my hair daily unless I'm terribly lazy and just pull it up into a ponytail or bun.

I'm a natural and the amount of hair I see varies. If I go longer without combing I see more.

My hair tangles really bad underneath, so I will finger comb that part when it's dry sometimes.

I don't brush my hair. I detangle it daily when it is full of conditioner using either my fingers or a seamless widetooth comb. I don't use a comb outside of the shower at all. Any styling I do (which isn't much!) is accomplished with fingercombing.

On non wash days I've gotten down to only using a wide tooth detangling comb. Wash days I rinse my hair for 5 minutes, Aphogee Intensive Keratin, and then detangle with a slightly smaller comb. I poo and condition and then comb with the finest comb after the conditioner. I have stopped using my brushes for now and I'm liking the results. I do notice a lot of shedding on wash days since I don't completely comb my hair on off days, but that's normal since your hair sheds a 100 hairs a day. I notice that the end of the hair has the little white bulb on it so I know it's shedding and not breakage.

ITA. I don't use a brush, though. My hair is very fine and brushing it makes it break off.

I comb with my fingers once a week or twice a week depending on how often I wash my hair, because I only do it when the hair is saturated with conditioner.
I do use a brush on the front of my hair sometimes when it's still wet to make it lie flat if I'm wearing my hair up.
It really works for me, my hair is growing faster because of this. (The ends are never torn or split.) :)

For how many days/weeks?
I don't comb or brush in the week

How do you wear your hair? natural, relaxed, tex
My hair is natural. Mostly 4a, a line of 4b on top and looser 4a in the back 1/4

When are you detangling?
I detangle on the weekends with my new denman d3 (just moved up from the d14 cos my TWAs growing out)

Do you see alot of hair in the shower? sink
I get super HIF at home so if I do mock-twists or even just a couple of braids I'll lose more hair than usual. I rinse daily whilst rubbing my hair in that shampooing motion and on average I see about 20-30 coils in the sink every morning. When I detangle on the weekends with conditioner and the brush I see about 100. Thats a rough guess tho, there's not LOADS but it's definitely alot more than the daily amount.

I voted yes. I use a seamless comb and (rarely) a soft boar-bristle brush almost daily. When the new growth starts coming in, I *have* to run through it with my fingers or a comb to keep it from tangling. I have a seamless comb with wide teeth and a 2-toothed "pic" on the end. I usually use the pic end to help keep the NG from matting.

BTW, I don't seem to have any excess breakage from doing this. Plus, the comb helps to pull out the shed hairs that I'd lose normally anyway.

I voted yes, I use comb and brush.. but this is how:

I only use a baby brush on my edges.. I don't use a regular brush at all.

I only use a wide tooth comb only to detangle wet hair... I sometimes use both wide tooth or pick to prepare for a rollerset(only on wet hair too)..and I only use a comb about every three days(since this is my hair wash days).

I only use my fingers to detangle and style on dry hair everyday. If I have a fresh relaxer I will use a comb for styling and then precede to finger combing on post relaxer days... hope I didn't confuse anyone just now:lol:

I use a soooooft baby bristle brush once in a blue just to smooth out whatever style i am trying to acheive.

I use a wide tooth comb , every three days. I constantly keep it in a bun and beleive it or not, it is reducing my shedding rather than combing and manipulating my hair EVERY day. I hope I regain my thickness this way.

I have relaxed hair and I don't detangle. I comb and brush all of the time. Although since coming here, I have reduced my usage of combs and brushes. I see a fair amount of hair in the shower, but I don't think it has anything to do with combing and brushing. My hair's just in bad shape right now.

For how many days/weeks?

I don't use a brush and I haven't used one in years (at least 5 years). I only use a comb when I'm washing my hair and that is after I put in my leave-in and that is once a week. I started doing this no comb routine in december and it has really helped in so many ways w/respect to the health of my hair and retaining length.

How do you wear your hair? natural, relaxed, tex

Relaxed. However, I'm in braids now so I'm not combing at all.

When are you detangling?

After I wash my hair is deep conditioned and there is leave-in in my hair.

Do you see alot of hair in the shower? sink?
No. As the health of my hair continues to improve, I see less hair. There is more than usual sometimes compared to if I combed my hair during the week but the amount isn't alarming. Lately, the amount of hair I've been seeing is not much at all. I actually expect to see more.

I might brush once every two months and only to smooth my wrap, but, especially when I'm wearing my hair down, I comb with a wide tooth comb several times a day ! Since my hair is so thin and I use an oil moisturizer daily, it tends to look piecey after a while (if that makes sense) and I comb it to separate it. I don't think I could do without combing at least twice a day.

Who is doing this?
I am. I only comb wet hair--while detangling conditioned hair under the shower and before rollersetting. After that, I just use my fingers and hands.

For how many days/weeks? I comb on wash days, 2x each week.

When are you detangling?
Under the shower and after leave-in ocnditioner.

Do you see alot of hair in the shower? sink
No, although I'm sure there is normal shedding.

For how many days/weeks?
I comb my hair with a wide toothed comb every three days, when I wash my hair. The rest of the time I just use my fingers. I never brush.

How do you wear your hair? natural, relaxed, tex I'm natural, I mostly wear my hair in buns or down and curly.

When are you detangling? After I wash and deep condition my hair then I detangle first with my fingers and then with the comb.

Do you see alot of hair in the shower? sink? I shed a LOT, but I almost never have breakage.

I just started doing this last week.

I now do not brush my hair at al, though I do not know if this will change the longer I go between retouches.

I'm only combing on wash days which are once a week right now. If I incorporate mid wee; conditioning treatments, I will comb then.

I only comb when the hair has conditioner in it.

My hair is currently relaxed.

Can't really say if I'm losing a lot of hair in the shower, have only done this once.
