I didn't think I could do it, but not combing has been great for my hair.

I only comb on wash days (every 5 to 7 days) and I just smooth and bun on other days.

I've retained much more thickness and length than ever before.

I just started this last week, for Superbowl Sunday, when I put my hair in flat twists. I'm using full wigs and combing once a week now - hoping to be APL by the end of March.

I voted Sometimes.

If I don't comb the front out everyday, it's gross looking and matted
....but the back, I can go for a whole week and it'll look fine :perplexed

I never comb my braidouts..that's just asking for it. :nono:

I only comb my hair on wash days to do a wet set. Other than that I just do finger combing. It works for me with less manipulation.

I don't comb my braidouts until I get sick of them (two or three days,) but if my hair is rollerset or flat ironed, I comb every day. I comb every time I condition my hair. Altogether, I'd say I comb 3-5 days out of the week. Not combing=tangles=breakage, for me.

It works for me. I think since I have fine hair, combing too often was keeping me from retaining length. Now I only comb 1x a week on my wash day (I cowash most other days of the week). I usually bun or even do a braidout, but combing is not necessary for either or these styles. :nono:

i can't seem to give my hair the proper moisture it needs unless i comb it. i try to get through it with my fingers, and four weeks post it's already getting knotty at the roots, so i have to section it and slather on moisturizer. perhaps i will try spray moisturizer instead of cream and not comb for a week. that will be a challenge.

I checked sometimes because most of the time it works but I don't like the way my hair looks the day after wash day without combing. It looks very clumpy. And I try to low comb. I usually try to comb on wash day when my hair is wet and saturated with conditioner and maybe the day after to reduce the clumps, then I just finger comb it until next wash day.

P.S. I could never NOT COMB my hair. It would matt up and turn into one massive dread :nono:.

I comb once a week on wash day. This has significantly reduced my split ends, although I'd like to try using a seamless comb to see if also reduces damage.

I have to comb at least every other day. If I don't, then here come the tangles and knots ... and they are not my friends.

Only on wash days or when my relaxer is fresh and the comb glides through! I have so much newgrowth and learned that not combing is best for me, especially when stretching. Too much manipulation is no good since in encourages breakage when you have the two textures going on!
