Ladies,

I wanted to make sure that you're aware that a fellow LHCF'er (NJoy) has a vitamin supplement that has better ingredients than Hairfinity. She knows her stuff when it comes to growing some beautiful and luscious hair.

Currently, you can get a three month supply for $44.00 here. FYI, If you add two bottles of vitamins to your cart a third will automatically appear for free.

How Does Long & Healthy Essentials compare to Hairfinity Vitamins?

Hi Divas! Ok, so I’ve already had this question asked of me several times since I’ve announced the release of Long & Healthy Essentials (Vitamin Complex for Hair Growth).

Before I get to the side-by-side comparison of the ingredients labels, let me point out that supplementing your diet with vitamins, minerals and amino acids is a necessary component of a healthy hair growth regimen. As we eat good, nutritious foods (*looks around*) our bodies will pull the nutrition that it needs to stay healthy, leaving our hair and nails as the last to receive any residual nourishment. This is why supplementation is advised. You want your hair to receive what it needs to produce strong, healthy hair and to encourage faster growth. That said, a good hair vitamin is an excellent investment in your hair’s health.

Now, let’s take a look at those labels.

I think the comparison pretty much speaks for itself. But, I’d like to point out just a few things:

Biotin, also known as vitamin H, is a b-vitamin and important for hair growth. All hair vitamins will have it because it does well to contribute to hair growth. Many get overzealous and take high doses of biotin, saying that” you’ll urinate what the body doesn’t use anyway so, what’s the harm?” Although studies show that high dose have no harmful effects, the body doesn’t like having mega doses of biotin dumped into the system. It’s too much to handle. How do we know that? Many, including myself, know all too well the symptom of biotin overdosing. You’ll suffer skin eruptions, or acne-like breakouts. Not a good look. :/

Now, to counteract that sort of reaction, you’ll often hear people say to drink lots of water with biotin because it’s water-soluble like other b-vitamins. This will certainly process it through the system quickly so that it’s urinated out. Another means of counteracting the skin eruptions is to take a b-vitamin complex along with biotin. B-vitamins are the energy vitamins and are quickly used up by the body and are also water-soluble and gets excreted out quickly. So then, you have high doses of biotin in the system being accompanied by a b-vitamin complex which gets used up quickly more quickly than the biotin, but both will be eliminated.

Long & Healthy Essentials provides a time-released b-vitamin complex to accompany the right amount of biotin in the system, lasting throughout the day, working to produce consistent healthy hair growth. That means, no more breakouts and no more experimenting with the right dosages.

When I first started my journey, biotin was a staple in my growth regimen. But, no matter how much water I was drinking and despite the super b-complex that I was taking along with it, I continued to get breakouts on my face. Ugh! And for me, the clean up was worse than the breakout. You see, if I pic at a bump on my skin, I’m left with a scar. And if I leave it alone and try to wait it out, I’m still left with a pock mark. Either way, it would take for-EVER to try to fade those blotchy marks. So, eventually I removed biotin from my regimen, much to my chagrin. But it wasn’t worth it to have long, gorgeous hair and a jacked up complexion. Not to me, at least.

MSM is sulfur and thought to extend the growing phase of hair and some report that it loosens the texture of new growth. This is another one that many get overzealous with. MSM, which is also know as methylsulfonylmethane, is a sulfur-based compound that’s found naturally in many foods like milk, seafood, onions, garlic and green vegetables. Because sulfur is found throughout the body naturally and is one of the principle building blocks of hair and nails, it is a great addition to a hair vitamin. However, since it’s found abundantly in foods, mega doses are unnecessary and can actually give side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, kidney problems, bloating, fatigue, headache, insomnia, itching, or worsening of allergy symptoms in some individuals. That said, let me add, MSM works great on issues with the joints but, that’s another post.

Moving on to L-Cysteine, which I don’t see in Hairfinity. Cysteine is a sulfur-based amino acid that is a vital component for healthy hair that works by strengthening the protein structures of your hair and aiding in the formation of collagen, which is said to result in hair that is healthy and that has good texture.

Ginko Biloba is important because it helps to increase blood circulation throughout the body, including the scalp. In fact, it works so well that many use it to help increase their memory by bringing sufficient oxygen to the brain. As circulation is increased, oxygen-rich blood nourishes the hair follicles, providing the energy needed for healthy hair growth.

Long & Healthy also includes Saw Palmetto, Pygeum Africanum, Green Tea and Grape Seed extracts, all of which works to block DHT, which stands for Dihydrotestosterone. It is the enemy of hair follicles on your head. The hormonal process of testosterone converting to DHT, which then harms hair follicles, happens in both men and women. Under normal conditions, women have a minute fraction of the level of testosterone that men have, but even a lower level can cause DHT- triggered hair loss in women. So, blocking the production of dht in the body prevents balding from female-patterned hair loss as well as male-patterned hair loss.

Many nutrients are recognized for their significance in promoting the growth and health of the hair. Long & Healthy Essentials provides a very well-balanced blend of these important nutrients including herbs like Saw Palmetto which may have very positive effects on lowering DHT levels in the body.

Proper nutrition on the inside combined with the topical, stimulating formula, NJoy’s Long & Healthy Hair Growth Oil is a complete program to promote optimal hair growth through nutrition and follicular stimulation. It’s clear to me that Long & Healthy Essentials is a much better formulation than Hairfinity. But, no matter what you decide to use as your nutritional supplement, learn to read the labels carefully to ensure that you’re getting the best formulation for you hair growing needs.

As for me and my house, we will continue to use Long & Healthy Essentials.

Man…this vitamin is looking more and more tempting. Once I finish up my hair infinity stash---I may just have to try this out.

I really don't understand why the formulations with mega amounts of supplements gets so much hype. Is growing hair really worth the risk of possible long term effects?

Sounds good but why is she pitting herself against hairfinity? People would buy her vitamin anyway I would think

Good for her! I sure that just like her other products this formula is well thought out. I wonder if she worked with a nutritionist of physician?

Maybe she is going after Hairfinity because they are the top vitamin company for black hair care right now. Even my friends who aren't into hair have been talking about it.

I read a report of a woman who says hairfinity gave her kidney stones. I think with any vitamins you have to drink a lot of water, at least 32oz or more. if your drinking less water curtail your use of Hair vitamins. If not you could face kidney problems in the future

I have about a week supply of maxi hair to finish. I ordered some today. I figured that this will be my new multivitamin.

I want to try it! I've tried all the hair vitamins and anything with more than 300mg of biotin breaks me out. So I'm really curious if her formula really dosnt cause breakouts.

I wouldn't take ANY hair vitamins UNLESS i was drinking a GALLON or more of water each day. Besides, if you don't have enough water in your system to break them down or circulate through your body, why take them?

Not only that, but who is producing these vitamins? Where are they being produced and who tested the safety of these ingredient level? These are the same concerns I have had amount Hairfinity, Manetablism (sp?) and other small vitamin companies that have come along recently.

I am starting to wonder this too. How do we know what is being said that is in them is really in them? I know larger companies are capable of doing shady things too but when it comes to our health, we need to start being more cautious. I am reading too many stories about how these vitamins are causing serious health issues. I am happy for NJoy though and I hope she did her due diligence and followed whatever all the correct procedures are to produce these vitamins. I would support her over the other 2 companies.

No vitamins are tested by a government agency because they are deemed unnecessary. The government feels you can get all the vitamins and minerals you need from (GMO) food :lachen: . No one tested the vitamins that have been on the market for 30 years :nono: There are private labs that will tell you what they found it in the vitamin but they are not going to tell you if they make your hair grow. The only concerns from a lab are ADEK they have been tested.

If you want to pay a lab to have ALL the vitamins in your cabinet tested, then i think you can find a lab online.

I'm not endorsing the product but I do like that Manetabolism states that a doctor ( the founder's husband) was involved in producing the product. I would appreciate it if Njoy could also gave us some knowledge on who was involved in overseeing the health impact of the vitamins.

I know that, and that is a risk I take (that we all take). But to mitigate risk, I tend to use larger more established brands that I can at least research a bit and find out more about their company. Im not worried about these making your hair grow because that is always a toss up:lol: But its the other risk that concern me

I haven't ordered these yet, because I was not aware of them, before I re uped on other beauty related vitamins.

However, I trust Njoy! Her supplements are time released for those concerned about overdosing on fat soluble vitamins. You can take one in the am and another in the pm. You should be drinking half your body weight in water daily, regardless of your vitamin intake.

Why not support one of your own? She always thoroughly researched anything she shared on the forum, :yep: I'm confident that she would use the same due diligence with her business.

I take Natures Plus vitamins & they have their vitamins tested at an independent lab. They include the results with each bottle.
Congrats to NJoy! I think her vitamins will sell well.
