Can someone that's used the ENTIRE Nioxin line for chemically altered hair give me a review? I'm experiencing some serious shedding. I already use the shampoo (not at full strength because it's drying) and the follicle stimulator (have had good results with this). Can someone give me some insight on the conditioner? THe whole line in general?

I used the follicle stimulator, shampoo and conditioner together an I loved it. At the time I was doing a pre-poo condition with Dark and Lovely dry hair healer, so I didn't notice any dryness.

Thanks! Is the Dark and Lovely a serum, leave-in, pre-shampoo?

Why did you start the Nioxin? How long did it take for you to see results? Did the conditioner give you slip?

It is a cholesterol conditioner and very cheap like 2.29 I think. I got the Nioxin because I went to a shi shi salon in midtown because I had gotton color and my hair was breaking (maybe it was because I didn't cover it at night hmmm. So the line he used the most was Nixion. i just remembered the shampoo I had was for chemically treated hair so maybe that is why I had no issues with dryness. The sulfating agent was a TEA derivative which is supposed to be one of the mildest out there. I used the follicle booster (I added that on my self later) because I thought my edges could look better. Nothing was wrong them, now that I really have a problem with my edges I don't know what to do. As far as results once I started to use it I never had a shed or broken ahir the whole time I used it. I didn't know anything about slip then and my hair was only shoulder length so it didn't knot or anything but that is the most I can tell you.

Thanks. I have the shampoo that you used - it's very drying for my hair. I'll try a pre-shampoo treatment to see how that works. I'm wondering if I can use any type of cholesterol conditioner? I just bought some Queen Helene cholesterol. I might try that.

I Just got the follicle booster, then I came upon your post. Are you saying that after the use of the follicle booster on your edges you devloped a problem? Has any one out there experienced any problems when they STOPPED using the follicle booster?

I've pretty much used all of the Nioxin line at one time and still use the shampoo and scalp therapy conditioner on a somewhat weekly basis. I used a couple bottles of the follicle booster when my sides had started thinning out. It worked like a charm and the new hairs that grew in seem to be thriving even though I stopped using the follicle booster. So I would say overall thumbs up!

I am so happy to hear you say that cause I have been itching to try this product for a long time.
Carmend, all I can say to you is EBAY! EBAY! EBAY!!! My 3.4 oz Nioxin was only 29.00 shipping included. I have not seen it for less than 45.00 to 57.00 (3.4oz) elsewhere. While we're on the subject I also purchased Nexxus Humectress, Keraphix, and Botanoil shampoo (1 liter each) for a total of 48.00 shipping included. I say all of this to say that If you are a product junkie, Ebay is definitely the way to go  .

I totally agree. I use to buy the Nioxin follicle booster for $20 for 1oz. Now I get them for about $10 each, no more than $13. I also buy some of the expensive make up form there too. I get them from the beauty stores. Can't beat the price.

BTW I use the booster 2xs a day and my hair line is growing in nicely.

Do you only use the Nioxin on the hairline? Do you know if it would increase growth if I used it all over? I have thin hair and would like to thicken it up without using a weave all of the time. Has anyone who just has slow growth used Nioxin follcle booster? What were your results?

I only use it on my hairline because that is where my hair fell out after having a baby. I use the booster along with temple balm or nexxus biotin creme. I have not tried it on all of my hair because of the price. Even though Ebay has it cheaper it is still expensive for the amount you get.

I am using Surge on the rest of my scalp to increase growth. I believe I see a quicker growth from it.

Thanks. you are right it is alot of money. I think I will invest in some Surge. I hear alot about it on this site.

Yeah the price for Surge 14 is about $5 and change. I do believe it working. I spray it on my hairline too.

It does make my hair a little dry if I use alone though. I use a little WGO after I spray and it helps.
